Class Trip: See You This Week At MCC

I will be visiting the plant on Wednesday and Friday this week at 2pm. Hope to see everyone on those shifts at that time. I will schedule the next visit to hit the other shifts.

I would also like to get together with the shop stewards to start mapping out a plan on how we will coordinate between the stewards themselves and the individual shifts.

Each shift needs to know what is happening on the other shifts.

I will be reaching out to the stewards and making arrangements for that asap.

There has been some real good discussion about having a meeting of all of the people prior to the June bargaining session. I think it is a really good idea as we will be getting to wages, health and retirement by that session. We will actually set that up as two meetings, so each shift can attend.

AS ALWAYS, still looking for concerns and ideas - meeting or no meeting.

We need to go to the table with a concrete proposal from the people on all money issues.

That way everyone in the plant will know where we start that conversation and we will all be on the same page right from the beginning. It will also bring everyone closer to the action and involve the entire group in this part of the process.

Hope to see many of you this week. I will arrange to visit on the other crews days in the next few weeks.

Stay Strong, Stay solid

  2. Im getting pumped up over getting a contract. I cant wait until we have it in writing and finally we can move on making our plant the best in the system. Sam you are the balance we needed to help us feel better about coming to work, and giving us the security in the knowledge we will be treated fairly.
The company said it themselves we are the most improved since we have been unionized. The relationship has already proven a win for the company and for us.
Thank you for walking this road with us. We are almost there.

  3. I absolutely agree with the two postings above.

sam you have done a superlative and wonderful job so far. you started out in that manner and you still remain to be the only true leader of so called leaders to this day. We have leaders by title at work but in title only. The company keeps putting out these ( climate surveys) and they keep getting worse reviews and marks. they have this 10 or 12 commandment chart the management staff is suppose to follow , ha what a joke. Not one of the older managers follows any of these steps.
For the life of me i don't know why the very few posters of negativity towards the union would want to follow these 3 stooges (who are leaders by title only i will say again). They dont even follow there own rules. wow! amazing.

Dan K. and his crew of misfits for the last two years have gotten some of the worst reviews in the company and he's proud he received an award. news flash Dan that award is not your doing. you have absolutely nothing to do with making this plant a better place. That award should go towards the 363 workers on the floor. Tony should have presented that award to Sam Fratto, Steve and as well. Those three have put in more work to make our plant become what it once was in 5-6 months then you have in the almost 3 dismal years you have been here.
THE ONLY TIME YOUR OUT ON THE FLOOR IS TO SEE WHAT THE WORKERS ARE DOING WRONG INSTEAD OF SEEING WHAT THEY ARE DOING RIGHT!!!!! YOU LOOK PEOPLE UP AND DOWN TRYING TO SIZE THEM UP TO SEE IF THERE CHEWING GUM OR PETTY THINGS LIKE THAT.
IF IT WASN'T FOR THE PEOPLE ON THE FLOOR DOING WHAT THEY DO RIGHT FOR 23 YEARS YOU DAN.K. WOULDN'T HAVE HAD A PLACE TO DO THE TWO STEP SHUFFLE ON OVER TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SAM HAS BEEN AWAKE FROM DAY ONE DAN IT'S TIME YOU AND DAVE WOKE UP AND START TO REALIZE WHAT A SPECIAL GROUP OF WORKERS YOU HAVE ( RUNNING THE PLANT).
YOU KEEP STANDING UP IN FRONT OF EVERYONE PREACHING YOUR V.P.O NONSENSE AND SHOWING OFF YOU WOODEN AWARDS. (WE) MEANING THE 363 BROTHERHOOD AND THE HARD WORKERS WILL ALWAYS KEEP THE PLANT RUNNING.
AND A COUPLE OF YOU NEGATIVE PEOPLE, - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND SO DO WE.
A COUPLE OF YOU SO CALLED TEAM LEADERS THAT ARE SO QUICK TO PUT BLAME ON YOUR FELLOW TEAM MEMBERS LET ME REMIND YOU OF SOMETHING.
    ( TEAM MANAGEMENT- WHAT MAKES-A-GOOD-LEADER)
(A TEAM LEADER IS SOMEONE WHO IS WHOLLY ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR TEAMS PERFORMANCE AND ACTIONS!) EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES AND YOURS ARE COMING. SO BEWARE! EVERY MORNING THE TIDE REVERSES! IT WON'T BE THE END OF THE WORLD IF YOU HAVE SOME ACCOUNTABILITY AND STOP BEING SUCK ASS'S.
    YOUR NOT GOING ANYWHERE ANYMORE.
BE A REAL TEAM PLAYER ON A WINNER TEAM.

  4. Wow, and you call other people negative! Chill brother. We will get this thing done the professional way. We will show all of the world we are good at what we do and don't have to bash to get it done. Let's be a class act like Sam.

oh 10:37 - Shut Up Did you go after the Nazi crowd whos been on here really making us look bad. This person started out saying nice things but like the rest of us reality sits in and it's easy to become negative quickly. Let them speak their mind. Isn't that what this blog is all about ? You just had your say right?

  6. Be looking forward to seeing you Sam

  7. Did you ever have a conversation with someone only to go back and forth and back and forth and then realizing in the end that you BOTH meant the same thing but were just saying it differently??

I think we have a little of that going on here at times. Everyone wants what is best. Yes there are a couple who try to throw wrenches in the works for whatever reason - but there always are.

I think we can all agree that we ALL want to achieve the best result for everyone who works at the plant.

Let's move forward together. Let's talk about us. Not nazis, commies, managers issues or anything else to take us off the mark. Let's come together and be a real union now.

Let's not bash the managers. Let's get a contract in place and you will see that relationship grow. Everyone will know where everyone else stands - it will be good.

We are getting close - and I predict we will have some issues to attend to before it is over.
We will need to stand together on those issues too - so let's get ready. I am.

Hope to see a lot of you guys today and Friday in the plant.

  8. well done another rep said.

I dont see that as a negative at all. I see that statement as the truth and calling it as they see it. calling it what it is.
And what did we get that award for ? oh yeah the most improved i think. wow. nice. but where were we at - what level were we at as a plant before the union came in to become the most improved? ummmm.

  9. Today was a historic day for Mcc Newburgh. Our union representative entered the plant for the first time with full cooperation from the company. Good faith on both sides. Thank you Lord for answering our prayers.

  10. Ohhh my are we seeing what we could have only thought about in previous times. This is a great beginning of what can take place. The nay sayers and non-believers should wake up and take notice. As i have previously stated,WE THE TEAM MEMBERS AND 363 WILL SHOW THE WORLD THAT UNITED WE WILL OVERCOME. MCC SETS THE STANDARD FOR CAN PLANTS WORLD WIDE[[ THE TEAM MEMBERS AT NEWBURGH ARE A VERY LARGE PART OF THAT.WE SET THE TRENDS WE SET UP TO DO WHATEVER IS NEEDED WE ARE THE ONES WHO PROTECT THE CUSTOMER.When a super or superviser can ignore advise of a team member and then not come to their support when needed, then their value to the team becomes nil.WE ,THE TEAM MEMBERS AND 363 NEED TO BE AS ONE [[NOT 90% WITH A FEW DISSIDENTS ]].OUR REPS HAVE GIVEN THEIR TIME AND TIME AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES IN ORDER FOR US TO HAVE A CHANCE TO PROTECT OUR WAY OF LIFE. IF FOR SOME REASON YOU ARE UNSURE OF THIS //// PLEASE MAKE A POINT TO BE AT NEXT WEEKS MEETINGS //I WILL BE THERE AND I WILL HELP ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS IF I CAN MEANING IF I KNOW THE ANSWER//ANY NEGATIVITY SHOULD BE DIRECTED AWAY FROM OUR UNION REPS[[BRING IT TO ME AND I WILL TRY TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT EVER IT IS THAT SCARES YOU...BE SAFE BE RESPECTFUL RESPECTFULLY ..DAKOTA

  11. Sam, thanks for saying what we need to do to get all together. Stop bashing, start talking about what we really want. The negatives ARE turning people away and then they start listening to other jibberish. We want to be looked at as the professionals that we are, at the table, on the floor, at home, in our industry. Stay strong 363. See you at the plant Friday.

  16. It was really great seeing you guys too. I will be back on Friday at 2 pm. I will return to see the other two crews after next week.

Had some great converstions and even a couple of laughs.

    You guys are great people.

  17. sammy, tell us more about your visit, did you go on the floor? how did mgt treat you? was everyone friendly? were any good questios asked? will you be coming to see the guys on night crew?

  18. Hey Wondering......

My visit was great. I went and spoke to Dave Lehman first and he was a real gentleman. I wanted to show my respect to everyone there - workers and management - and I always will. As I have stated many times in the past our COMMON goal - workers and management - should be to make this plant an example of what working together can do for morale and production.

I did go out on the floor and I was really impressed with the whole process. Next time I drink a beer (cans only now, of course) I will look at that can much differently. I can tell you this - not just ANY person could do your jobs. Now I know why they have such high standards to meet before when they hire new people.

The people were very friendly to me and very receptive. I think I explained a few things about bargaining that cleared up most of the questions on why first contracts take so long to negotiate. We even had some laughs too.

I will be back tomorrow to see the day crew and after next weeks negotiations I will come visit the two other night crews (get your arrows ready...lol)

Thank you to everyone for your time AND your support.
