Wow! 93,000 Hits And Climbing!

Wow! 93,000 hits! There is truly a lot of interest, participation and support going on here! ALL for the benefit of the MCC Newburgh workers!

THERE IS A UNION MOVEMENT THAT HAS BEEN BUILT BY THE PEOPLE AT THE NEWBURGH CAN PLANT. That movement is for the BENEFIT OF ALL OF THE WORKING PEOPLE AT MCC. We have made it to the bargaining table and we are bringing the peoples concerns to the table.

WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?

THE PEOPLE CALLED IN IBEW LOCAL 363 AND DECIDED TO FORM A UNION TO PROTECT THEMSELVES. The people banded together to speak as one voice. THE PEOPLE WANTED to sit at the table - with management - and work out a FAIR and WRITTEN contract.

That is exactly what we are doing.

WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?

Be on YOUR SIDE. Stay on YOUR SIDE - the side of the workers.

The IBEW 363 side.

  1. We all made the right choice by going UNION why do you think all of these managers are leaving they see the writing on the wall they lost their penion much like they tried to do to us and only a handful of them got a raise so what's the reason to stay for them WE chose to stay and go UNION I hope all of managment leaves and we can start new

  2. I Call Them As I See ThemJanuary 22, 2011 at 1:33 PM

The way all the managers are leaving makes you wonder what the heck those crazy Belgian and the Boys from Brazil are doing to this iconic AMERICAN company. They screw them out of their bennies, pension, perks and whatever else they took back that we never heard about and expect more for less. And then couple it up with some piss poor choices for managers and you will have the front row box seat to the demise of this once great self-sufficient, brewing/entertainment conglomerate. This is not a good sign, long time management fleeing the company. Probably because of the draconian policies of Brito and Company. The Busch's may have been ruthless pricks but they treated their employees well and with respect. Makes me glad to know we made the right choice and unionized. We took the initiative and decided to look out for ourselves and have worker rights. A say in our future. Some day all the resentment caused by Inbev will rise up and bite them on the ass. So Dream On Brito, dream on.

  3. I wonder why ABInbev doesnt brew their imports here like they brew budweiser overseas.Maybe its because they want to put their homeland people to work instead of American workers. I see now during the superbowl they are going to push Stella instead of bud. I wonder why? No imports are in cans. If we brewed and made cans for these products the company would save alot of money. Why not try it on one brand Brito. Helps us all.

  5. It doesnt matter how many managers mcc Newburgh looses. Our membership is strong and capable. The only thing this plant needs is management that has credibility. The victory dancer has been reclusive in his office. Doesnt come out to the floor and get involved. How can an operations manager manage the operations from behind a wall. Not a people person? This aint guantanamo lt. cafee,we dont want you onthat wall, we dont need you on that wall.He cant handle the truth. The truth is that the dancers existance is grotesque today and his mentality has hurt this plant so much it will take a great amount of energy to change the way management is seen by the people on the floor. All because of him. Dump the goon his time is up.

  6. Respect goes both ways, and you obviously don't deserve it from anyone. There are a lot of intelligent discussions on this blog. Too bad yours isn't.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I had to remove a comment today for the first time in months. I felt it went over the line.

This blog is for the benefit of the workers at the plant. It is really not about accusing people of illegal things or even for kissing managers goodbye. It's about the effort of the people to get a written contract at MCC Newburgh.

That is the subject. It's about your working life, that is what this is about. It could be that everything in regard to the working conditions and issues has already been said. If so, then I know I have the information I need to negotiate. If not, I'm all ears.

Let's concentrate on our issues - don't worry, the managers will feather their own nests and the company will import their replacements.

YOU NEED A CONTRACT NOW - MORE THAN YOU EVER DID.

I hope everyone sees the best place for all of the workers right now is to be together - split up and you are weak. It's that simple.

So let's stay on track. Be nice. Support your reps and you will have an avenue to address your issues......

    a new contract.

  8. Thanks Sam for speaking your mind.

    LETS GO JETS

  9. Sam, speaking of the contract, how are we doing with wages and pension?

    ReplyDelete
  10. We have not discussed those two issues in bargaining yet but we should get to them within the next three sessions. Did you get an email? Give your email, cell and name to your rep if you didn't get an email. They will get that info to me and I will add you to the list.

  11. keep up the good work Sam and all from 363 including our reps.Get us a contract please!

  12. One day an old German Shepherd starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost. Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.

The old German Shepherd thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!"

Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the panther is about to leap, the old German Shepherd exclaims loudly,

"Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder, if there are any more around here?"

Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.

"Whew!," says the panther, "That was close! That old German Shepherd nearly had me!"

Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther. So, off he goes.

The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther.

The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!"

Now, the old German Shepherd sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?," but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old German Shepherd says...

"Where's that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!"

    Moral of this story...

Don't mess with the old dogs... Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery!

BS and brilliance only come with age and experience.

    ReplyDelete
  23. In regards to 7:57 It better deliver or what? What are you going to do when the company does whatever it wants to do like it has done in the past?As far as the fucking goes, the union is the one thing that gives all of us at least a voice to say "No we dont like what you are doing" to the company. Cant you see their very own people dont want to work under the conditions that the salaried were given. They have no choice other than to leave if they dont like what has been given. We have a choice to stick together, protect ourselves by making sure that the company follows the law and keeps its commitments that a contract brings or just accept whatever the company wants to do to us including cutting your wages, pension, benefits,401k. This contract better deliver? How about you?You ask about does anyone know what reality is, but you cant see whats right infront of you.How exactly can the union fuck you?The only one who can say no to the hourlies wishes is the company.Thats reality. If the company decides to change policies for whatever reason whenever they want, without a contract they can. With a contract they cannot.Just by being in negotiations the union has already saved you money on your cost for medical benefits. You have no clue whats next. At least with a contract you will no.As far as reference to assholes,go look in the mirror you might see what you dont want.

  24. The only reason I voted yes for a union was for a pay increase. The steering team worked on policy for free, did not have to pay them 1% to do it. So roll up your sleeves IBEW and get us the most money you can! Earn that 1%.

    ReplyDelete
  25. TO anonymous 12:13 i normally do not find fault with anyones comments unless they are very personel or down right stupid and i really think if your yes vote was over 1 % you have missed the boat on our union discission.MCC to most employees is more than wages.it's the health insurance , pensions ,eye care , dental ,the ability to provide these to our family. these items are theatened by Inbev and Brito's value's.wages do have a part in all this but the security of protecting my family far supercedes a 1% pay raise.LET SAM AND 363 DO THEIR PART TO PROTECT WHAT WE HAVE AND MOVE FORWARD FROM THERE. I THINK THE MAJORITY OF OUR TEAM MEMBERS FEEL THIS WAY THANK YOU FOR TIME

    ReplyDelete
  26. Im glad you had at least one reason to vote yes. Most people had quite a few more. I hope that you will appreciate it when policies are in writing and you have a recourse when you feel there has been unfair treatment or the contract was not followed. The steering team didnt never supplied you with an official inclement weather policy or state of emergency policy that you could refer to in writing for the last 22 yrs have they? There are many more issues that are being written for the first time during negotiations. Hang in there, stay supportive of your union brothers and sisters that are giving up their time to make things better for everyone else. Even the steering team you like so much

  27. Thank you Walter for your input.I think that we a person who doesnt care for anyone else but himself. Thats ok. We will still help and support him too.

  28. the 10.29 poster you seem angry and concerned about loosing dale and ken and who might replace them. like it's our fault there leaving. It seems to me that the two replacements from what i have heard that these two gentlemen are HEAD AND TAILS better then most of the supervisors we have had over the last few years. Dont get me wrong i like dale and ken. Even though it has been a long road with dale. ken from what i have heard already did a much better job then mister mad at the world (piatt). mark no offense you never liked new york and you would have left years ago if something good came up, but you don't have to make it worse then it is. you need a nice Dr. to talk to. You have a few issues to work out!

back to the two new guys. have heard good things about the new guy on A crew. kevin on C crew we had the pleasure of working with for a few days on D crew. seemed like he was off to a very good start. and have been hearing very good things from C crew guys. so am i concerned with who we get ABSOLUTELY NOT! If you do your job like i"m sure you do. you have no worries.

The management staff has always told us CHANGE IS GOOD. RIGHT! THEY MUST BE RIGHT! RIGHT?? THERE THE BOSS'S. now there all changing.
ASK YOURSELF WHY? WHY ARE THEY ALL JUMPING OFF THE SHIP?
IT IS ALMOST FUNNY. IF IT WAS FUNNY BUT IT'S NOT. IT'S ALMOST SAD HOW ALL OF THESE AB DEDICATED MANAGERS, ALL SO DEDICATED TO MCC AND IT'S FUTURE, WHEN THINGS GOT A LITTLE TOUGH (CHANGE) FOR THEM HOW QUICKLY THERE ALL JUMPING. DON'T GET ME WRONG I DON'T BLAME THEM AT ALL. JUST SURPRISED THEY DIDN'T JUMP SOONER.
ALL SHIPS NO MATTER HOW WELL THERE KEPT NEED TO BE DOCKED AND THE DIRT AND FILTH NEED TO BE CLEANED FROM THE ENGINES THAT PROPEL AND DRIVE THAT GREAT SHIP FORWARD,AS WELL AS SOME OF THE OLD SEA WEED THAT HAS ATTACHED ITSELF TO THE PROP FROM DAY ONE NEEDS TO BE PUT BACK TO SEA WHERE IT BELONGS SO WE CAN RIGHT THIS SHIP AND STEER IT BACK INTO THE CHANNELS OF GREATNESS AGAIN. GET THOSE ENGINES ROARING AGAIN LIKE IN THE PAST. INSTEAD OF SPITTING AND SPUTTERING AND GOING AROUND AND AROUND IN THE GIANT WHIRLPOOL OF DECEPTION AND LIES WE'VE BEEN STEERING INTO FOR THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS.
WERE AS I DON'T AND TRY NOT TO ENCOURAGE DEGRADING THE MANAGEMENT STAFF I CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND WHY SOME DO. WE ALL SEE HOW SOME PEOPLE ARE TREATED COMPARED TO OTHERS.

SOME CAN DO NO WRONG NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY DO WRONG!!! A FEW GET JOBS THAT THEY DON'T DESERVE OR ARE NOT CAPABLE OF DOING CORRECTLY.THAT WILL PROBABLY NEVER CHANGE.
I CAN ONLY SAY THIS STAY POSITIVE CHANGE IS HAPPENING FOR THE GOOD. WE THE PEOPLE WILL MAKE IT GOOD. STAY STRONG AND POSITIVE! ENCOURAGE AND INSTILL POSITIVE THOUGHTS IN THE REST OF YOUR CREWS AND WITH WHOM YOU WORK WITH.

LETS LEAN BACK TOWARDS THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SHIP I HEARD THE VIEW IS BETTER ANY WAY AND START TO RIGHT THIS SHIP WITH OR WITHOUT THE JUMPING MANAGEMENT STAFF.
THEY PROBABLY THINK THERE ON ONE OF THERE TEAM BUILDING MEETINGS AND THERE TOLD TO JUMP SOMEONE WILL CATCH THEM. BAA HAHAHAHA.
    GOOD LUCK TEAM JUMPERS YOUR FINALLY MAKING A ( DECISION ) FOR A ( - - CHANGE - - ) LOL.

  29. Just a pay raise? Thats it? Thats all you think is at stake here? Wow,do yourself a favor and make a phone call to Sam at the 363 union hall.Talk over your one concern of your pay raise.Maybe you can give up your medical, your 401k, your pension and your vacation and your rights under the law and get a good raise. As for me I want to get everything else in writing because without it you have nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. wow posting's are happening faster than i can read.THAT would indicate the intensity and concerns of my team members. As a preacher of safety and common respect , for the most part we are civil {TY} yes management appears to have their own problems. SO BE IT we still need to be united and strong our values and way of life are at stake. let's not drag their problems into our blog CONCENTRATE on our needs and values let them fight their own fight. WE are the best at what we do and as said before we will prove it to the world. Negativity will help no ones issues.TY Walter for previous comment. BE STRONG BE SAFE BE UNION BE 363 hoping for all

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think thats a good idea Dakota. We need to bring the concerns of the people to light and carry on with making our plant a better place to work at.That is main goal isnt it ? To make things better for all who are in the union?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Man 7:57 is quite the demanding little guy isnt he? How about this little guy. Why dont you deliver yourself to the rest of your coworkers and do something to help yourself and everyone else instead of demanding something you havent paid for yet.Be part of helping yourself. We are the union. You and me. You think that your entitled to something you havent worked for.Must be nice to demand things.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 363 is leading the drive for a contract on OUR behalf. They havent received a penny for all the time and work they put in.Our team members that have volunteered to represent the entire plant do not get anything other than satisfaction of securing our future at Newburgh. Everyone there has been sincere and honest and working hard at developing a contract. We are ready at a notice to continue negotiating at anytime the company wants too. Right now we are set the week of Feb 7th. I hope that we can continue moving forward and put more things to bed. Please note that the entire time we negotiate no changes will be made to what we have now. Ready willing and able to represent us all. Stay strong and supportive to all. Even the company. We need eachother. Go 363 go Newburgh

    ReplyDelete
  34. Is there going to be anybody left in management to negotiate with by February 7?

    ReplyDelete
  35. 7:57 funny how the few that didn't lift a finger and never helped want all the candy. They are insignificant and not worth the breath.

    ReplyDelete
  36. There's more to all this than a pay increase. It's about unity for us, consistant and equal management practices, contractual assurances that for the life of the contract the rights of the worker are protected from abitrary actions of management. It's about securing your health, dental, vision, and wage benefits for the life of the contract. It's about all of us, no one single person is more importatnt than the whole.
This is a first for all of us. First union, first contract negotiation, a lot of firsts. It may seem like it's going slow but we want to get it right the first time. If we screw something up there's no going back for a "do over". If you are that impatient, on the edge of your seat and crave more information do all of these things: 1: ask your reps, they'll give you what they can talk about that isn't sensitive to the talks. 2: Get on Sam's e-mail list; get it straight from the lead negotiator. If you are available attend a negotiation day meeting, hang out in the lobby. Show your support for your union and reps. There is a power in numbers. Stand and be counted.
Don't worry about the manager exodus, it's their problem, not ours. We just need to perform to the best of our abilities. It's hard to say no to a winner.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 12:13 POST. YOUR SHOP STEWARDS AND NEGOTIATORS ARE WORKING FOR FREE AS WELL!! WHY DON'T YOU SHOW THEM THE SAME SUPPORT THAT YOU JUST GAVE THE STEERING TEAM.
OH WAIT ARE THEY STILL A TEAM NOW??

HUMM? NOT SO SURE ABOUT THAT TEAM ANY MORE.

I AM SURE ABOUT THE 363 TEAM!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow, my work here is done! LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 12:13 HAHAHAHA. WHAT A LAUGH YOU ARE. LOL. YOUR A FUNNY GUY\GIRL. YOU MUST BE ON THE STEERING TEAM TO MAKE SUCH AN OUTLANDISH STATEMENT. TO ONLY JOIN A UNION FOR A 1% RAISE SHOWS WHERE YOUR I.Q IS AT. GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE. (STEERING TEAM + YOU )= FAILURE.

I WOULD SAY MORE BUT YOU SUPPOSEDLY DID VOTE YES SO IT SHOWS YOU CAN THINK INTELLIGENTLY SOMETIMES. SO I WON'T COMMENT FURTHER ON YOUR SUDDEN LACK OF ABILITY TO THINK PAST THE VOTING PROCESS.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hats off to Walter for openly discussing his views. I have alot of respect for a man that not only considers himself but thinks of the entire team. He has volunteered to help send supplies to our troops and selflessly tries to make things better by being on the saftey team.I know that he also has alot on his plate at home. Thank you Walter for doing the things you have done. You are an inspiration to us all.

  41. Walter has done a great job at work. He sorts a ton cans and breaks out the palletizer operators and is on the saftey team. He works hard for the team and does more than his share. 45. WOW, A BUNCH OF GOOD POSTS. I SAY--STAY SOLID, BE SAFE, PAY ATTENTION TO THE PROCESS AND MAKE SOME GOOD QUALITY CANS. IT WILL TAKE SOME TIME---BUT BETTER DAYS ARE COMING. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. I AM GLAD WE HAVE THIS BLOG SO WE CAN WRITE DOWN OUR FEELINGS AND CONCERNS..GO TEAM...

    ReplyDelete
  46. My wife needs new brakes on her car and the furnace is acting up. Gas is going to be $4.00/gal this summer. And my taxes keep going up. I hope a pay increase reflects the effort. Please dont everybody dump on me for saying that. I can really use extra money in my pay check. Sorry IBEW and team reps.I know this blog is here only to support the union.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It's not just you 7:33 am - Everyone can use the money - that's a fact and we know that. Rest assured we are doing everything we can to represent your interests in regard to every subject, including wages.

The important point is that ONLY THE POWER OF US TOGETHER that will determine how STRONG of a deal we get.

The company holds ALL of the money, we are trying to get SOME of that money for the people.

The union does not determine the raise - we only PROPOSE THE RAISE.

We push for the highest raise we can get from the company. To get that raise, we rely on the strength and support of our group of workers......so you can thank yourself for the results later either way.

Quite frankly, the company also monitors the blog - so if they see that there are still people left who DON'T GET IT and are against that concept of "being together" they will gladly hold that money back FROM ALL.

At that point the only ones to blame would be those that did not help push the cart or follishly fought those who did.

....and that goes for EVERY subject we bargain for - not just wages. The comapny guages support and then reacts to that support. I can't make it any plainer.

Ya hear me 7:57 and you other off roaders and wiseguys?

So the real answer to all and especially the FEW who just throw stones and demand results is to be part of the union and jump in and help push the cart in the right direction - pulling the other way is like pulling the money out of your own pocket.

Anyone who can't understand that logic at this point isn't thinking clearly.

Support your reps and your union.

  48. GOOD MORNING MmmmCcccCccc i see Sam is online early again trying to educate disbelievers and those who still don't get what's happening. this is about our Newburgh team. sure we would all like benifits that supercede our wildest dreams. GUESS WHAT it ain't happening.please understand we need to protect what we have before we can add what we want.inbev and brito have focred their issues and reputation all over the world. our team has decided to MAKE A STAND.to be the best we need to act, plan, carry out and finalize what we started.we need to put our trust in our TEAM REP"S and STEWARDS whom are far superceding the respondabilties they have assumed.363 you have stepped up to the plate and impressed all of those who attempt to understand the process.I WISH I HAD A GLASS BALL AND COULD SAY WE GOT EVERYTHING WE WANTED I CANNOT. BUT I CAN SAY BE STRONG BE 363 BE SAFE AND WE WILL ACCOMPLISH THE TASK WE SET OUT TO DO RESPECTFULLY

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thank you Sam for putting it out and clearly in the open.I am a rep who has trying to help all of us, even the company. The people who think that it will be better without a contract cannot or will not see how ABinbev operates. The managers who are retiring or quiting and going to other jobs see what lies ahead.Any manager left here in Newburgh wants this plant to be the best im sure. The majority of the population voted in363 to represent All of us and that what the law says. All of us. We need to get this place stroking again. If the people want a raise the only way to show this company that it pays to give us what we need is to make this place as efficient as possible. I know there are certain people that are incapable of making the correct decisions that manage here. We cannot let that continue or all of us will be out of work.Step up to the plate and help them learn,or make the right decisions. Our performance will help us do better at the bargaining table. Dan had said in the past that Brito wants to link income with performance. Lets show him we can be the best.Dan has a good idea with asking people on the floor to help figure out our production problems. Please step up and help when possible. In the long run it will help us all

  52. as far as dale leaving, most of us know, that he really didn't do the job that he was hired to do, and those of you who think different, just take a look at the backend, prior to dec. of 2010....it was a mess, and ran like crap, and lets not forget COMMUNICATION. i know it was just to overwhelming for him, and hopefully mark will do alot better. as far as holly, and ken, they never had a chance to show their full potential as managers, because of the lack of profession training given them by W.T. i'll bet, that burito has not a clue as to what is going on around here, and if he knew how, and why, things are as bad as they are, maybe, just maybe, he will do something himself to help get things right again.

    ReplyDelete
  53. we want this place to run but management staff has no idea on what to do.People on floor keep wanting to help but decisions in recent past are poor. Keep trying everyone it will turn around with hourly efforts. we will do it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. What is scary is that management is making decisions based on their incorrect assumptions and skewed data.

Soon, very soon, someone is going to get severely injured or someone is going to be killed.

Management has created an unsafe work environment, and will take no resposibility for it.

Managers when the worst happens, as caused by you, I wonder if you'll lose any sleep at all.

    I don't think so.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ok are we through worrying about all the managers leaving?Lets focus on the contract and what we want and need. Tell your reps your concerns and anything that you think is important in negotiations. Thank you to the people who have been keeping the focus on what the big picture is.
