Negotiations Move Ahead - Thank You For Your Support

Another week at the table. We made some more progress toward our goal - having a written contract at MCC Newburgh. Don't let this message be misunderstood though, things are NOT easy. I can promise you that they probably won't get be getting any easier from this point forward.

There is exhausting discussion about how things are done, why they are done, what has to change to make it better or fairer, why it can't change etc. All good and enlightening conversation to both sides of the table.

That conversation is creating your contract.

We are presenting proposals from your prospective and the company evaluates that same subject from theirs. Sometimes we match and sometimes we don't. Sometimes we get mad, sometimes they get mad. We WILL have a contract at the end of these negotiations that will be fair and balanced based on all of these talks.

Thank you to those who came to visit us during the day. It was nice to sit and talk a little and explain some negotiation information and other things. You guys really are a great group of people and a great group of workers. I am really impressed with the fantastic attitude toward your trade and jobs. It is openly displayed all of the time. I hope the company really notices that about you guys. What a great group.

If anyone else wants to stop by go to the hotel when we are in session and text your rep.

Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party. A famous quote that applies right here. Your party in this case is your union. Your union in this case, is you.

Support yourself, support your reps, support your union.

This is a great showing of CLASS and INTEREST.Even as the president tries to bankrupt the country ,we meaning team members and 363 are still trying to protect our way of life. I hope that all team members appreciate what is happening and realize how much better off we will be with a contract. There are still issues that need attention and will be addressed. Need help in understating , talk to reps, stewards or Sam. BE SAFE BE 363 BE UNION RESPECTFULLY DAKOTA

  3. This week we will be setting up dates to meet in May. Having some of you show up to the hotel during our last session was a great suprise and gave us all an opportunity to have some nice discussions.

    It is YOUR UNION.

If any of you stop by during the next session, just text your rep and we will know that you are out there in the lobby.

    It is YOUR UNION.

A very important point that cannot be allowed to be misunderstood is that you at MCC Newburgh are your own union. You guys are the union here. You will make it work. You will give it credibility and strength. It is only as strong as you make it inside those property lines.

    It is YOUR UNION.

We will both establish credibility in our relationship with management. IBEW Local 363 by our level headed approach to building a long term relationship, while defending our members right to fairness in the workplace. This coupled with YOU, your work ethic and sense of fairness that will make up YET ANOTHER PROUD PART OF IBEW Local 363. Working under a contract is a great and fair way to work and run a business.

    It is YOUR UNION.

Soon, we will be putting all of that in motion and we can start to build for a better future.

    It is YOUR UNION.

    Stay close, stay tuned,
    Stay solid, stay strong

  5. We need to get things done before the August 28th deadline. For some reason there is still a strong group of non-supporters that are ready to try and decertify the union. They only need 30% of the people to sign a petition to hold another vote and decertify us. 50%+1 is all they need. IT's showitme and we need to get moving. We can't let these "suits" people at the table make us feel so good. They will stall until they get the next vote. WE need to get er done ASAP.

  6. Dont worry, Im certain that managers like Jason Owens will keep everyone believing in our union. He makes it so easy to show why we need our union.

  7. Thanks 7:36 pm for your comment.

Don't worry, we are not being made to feel good by anyone at the table. We are busy moving forward and watching out for everyones interest every minute we meet.

Don't fret about 363 getting voted away - NOT HAPPENING. The small minority always yells loud when the end is near for their dream of it not working out. They just want to push it that way but they can't. Frustrating.

We will continue to defend the workers side of the issues at the negotiation table. There will be no adjusting any negotiating speed or applying the brakes based on a threat from a few who are the "closer to management than the common people type" who still just don't get it. Negotiating at a predetermined pace cannot work to our advantage and would be a diservice to the great majority.

The great majority of the workers at MCC Newburgh embrace having IBEW Local 363 as their union and will NEVER change that opinion.

The great majority understand how critical it is that you have the protection of a written contract NOW at MCC Newburgh, going forward and into the future.

The great majority understand that this is a new company and not the AB you guys all hired on with years ago and in the recent past.

It can still be a great place to work as long as you have a RECOGNIZED VOICE in it.

The great majority appreciate and support their union, their reps and the time and effort spent on their behalf. And we all appreciate that support.

The great news is with the union the majority will always rule no matter what.

We stand with everyone in the majority and we even stand for the benefit of the minority too - whether they appeciate it or not.

  8. I have been approached more and more by people who want to know how things are going. How does the contract look so far. How does certain things impact them. They want to know what kind of things to expect in the future.
They also have comments that they want to support us at the negotiating table to help everyone and help themselves.
Some people showed up at negotiations to support eachother. That was great! Thank you all. If you plan to show at the next negotiations please let me know so we know how to plan the logistics.
I appreciate the support people have shown us. We want you all to know that we have been trying to keep the things that we know that make our plant succesful and create a contract that is fair and reasonable for all.
I have to say that it isnt easy. Capturing everything in writing sounds easy but it sure is a learning experience for me. There are things that we agree and disagree on. We are hoping that communication can be the key to resolving the issues that can disrupt the pace at which we are headed to completing our contract.
I will keep you informed work about our status and keep the questions and comments coming. Thanks again for your support.

  10. I cant wait until we have a contract to finally have protection from injustices that still go on. You would think that management would have learned after all this time that what is right cannot be denied!

  11. It takes a while to change. It has been happening since the day of the vote. It will continue forever. We all have the capacity to learn and change. We all have to give eachother the opportunity to evolve through this transformation. The ones who cant will show themselves and their inability to move foreward for the company. They will drag themselves down along with the company.

  12. I sure hope the company is ready to give us a raise. My kids need braces and this lousy dental policy doesnt pay like the old delta dental did. My taxes went up. Gas went up. I have been putting alot of money in my employers pocket, now its time for them to put some in mine.

  13. Stock price is rising again, the company has paid their debts, metal container has picked up more business from monster. What possible reason could the company have that would deny the biggest and best can manufacturer that they own and still leverages the can prices in the industry from getting a good raise?
