What Do YOU Want In YOUR CONTRACT? Let It Rip!

Let's see what is on the minds of the people.

Management from here to St. Louis reads this blog everyday - let's let them in on what the peoples concerns are.

There are so many issues that are and can be covered under a contract. Vacation rules, times, length, sick days, health coverage, different carriers, better coverage, lower payments, retirement plans, pension plans, hours, work weeks, shifts, wages, breaks, promotions, promotion rule, leave of absence, swaps, discipline procedure, attendance policies, inclement weather, seniority, discharge for cause, holidays, holiday pay, overtime, disability coverage, severance pay, death in family, life insurance, jury duty, safety, time clocks, time keeping, lunch breaks, day of rest, emergencies, gain sharing, calculation of gain sharing, bonuses, cost of living raises, wage increases etc.

What are your ideas? How will your ideas help production? How will your idea make this a better place to work? What subject did I not list here that you think should be addressed?

Here is an open forum - How do we - together with the company - make this place the best there is and make the people at MCC Newburgh want to make cans at a pace never seen before?

The floor is yours.

  1. WELL THERE IS A MOUTHFUL RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!!

LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE MOST AREAS COVERED THERE.

AFTER ALL OF THAT FOR ME IT WOULD BE TO HAVE

THE MANAGEMENT TEAM TO STOP LYING TO THE WORKERS,
WE ARE ALL ADULTS STOP SUGAR COATING SOMETHING TO TRY AND MAKE IS SOUND BETTER THEN IT IS.

I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I HEARD DAN CALL THIS YEARS PACKAGE A GREAT PACKAGE.

WELL I THINK HE KEPT LOOKING AT HIS OWN BENEFIT PACKAGE WHEN HE WAS TALKING ABOUT ARE'S . BECAUSE I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT WAS GREAT IN THAT PACKAGE.
OH ALL RIGHT I'LL GIVE HIM ONE THING.
AND THAT IS THAT I STILL HAVE A JOB. BUT THE REST SADLY LAUGHABLE.

SO TO MAKE THIS A BETTER PLACE I WOULD SAY.

I read at 8.28 this morning blogger. and that individual actually had the nerve to say what has sam done for us.. WOW. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT? REALLY 8.28? YOU CAN'T POSSIBLE BELIEVE WHAT YOU ASKED. by the way still waiting for a response on how many meetings you went to.

And those i meetings i'm talking about are the pro union meetings. cause i know you have been to the anti union meetings. the ones we were made to go to.

The PRO UNION MEETINGS ARE THE ONES WERE PEOPLE GO WHO MAKE A CHOICE TO GO AND HAVE THE NERVE TO TAKE A CHANCE FOR REAL CHANGE.

INSTEAD OF CONTINUING TO BE A ROBOT AND NOT HAVE A CHOICE OR SAY IN YOUR FUTURE.

so you say what has sam done for us?

I'll tell you what sam has done for me and i think i speak for alot of team members when i say this.

    PRIDE !

SAM HAS INSTILLED PRIDE IS MOST OF US AGAIN!!

PRIDE WE ALL ONCE HAD YEARS AGO

PRIDE THAT HAS SLOWLY BEEN SUCKED AWAY OVER THE YEARS FROM THE DIVIDE AND CONQUER MENTALITY.

PRIDE THAT HAS HELPED US LIFT OUR HEADS BACK UP OFF THE FLOOR AND PICK THIS DYING PLANT BACK UP FROM THE GRAVE YARD.

PRIDE TO START TO ENJOY WHAT WE DO AGAIN FOR A LIVING. HOW ABOUT THE NEXT THING HE HAS DONE.

    INTEGRITY !

SAM HAS INSTILL A SENSE OF INTEGRITY AS WELL.
OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS OF MEETINGS ON BOTH SIDES.
THE ONLY ONE THAT IS DOING WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD DO. IS SAM . THAT'S RIGHT SAM IS THE ONLY ONE OUT OF ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN THROWING OUT INFORMATION FOR US TO CHOSE FROM
SAM FROM THE BEGINNING SAID HE WOULD FIGHT FOR US DAY AND NIGHT.
    AND HE HAS.
EVERYTHING HE HAS SAID HAS COME TRUE SO FAR.

    THAT'S INTEGRITY EVERYONE.

CAN YOU SAY THAT ABOUT THE ONES AT WORK. LOL

    REALLY DOUBT THAT.

JUST THINK ABOUT HOW MUCH TIME IT TOOK TO PUT THIS GREAT TOOL UP HERE FOR US ALL IN THE ENTIRE WORLD TO USE FOR INFORMATION.

YOU CAN CALL SAM DAY OR NIGHT . HE GAVE OUR HIS PHONE NUMBER TO EVERYONE. AND HE WILL TAKE YOUR CALL.
CAN YOU SAY THAT ABOUT DAN,DAVE OR WARREN.
WITH THE HISTORY THEY HAVE WHO WOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE CALLING THEM ANYWAY. OPEN DOOR POLICY. YEA OK THAT'S A GOOD ONE.

SAM IN JUST A FEW MONTHS HAS DEDICATED MORE TIME AND ENERGY FOR ALL OF US THEN ALL OF OUR MANAGERS COMBINED.

THEY ONLY SPEND ENERGY ON THE ONES THEY LIKE. WHICH IS FAR AND FEW BETWEEN. SAD I THINK. LIKE US OR NOT IT TAKES ALL OF US TO MAKE CANS.

    SAM REALIZES THAT .

I HAVEN'T SEEN PRIDE OR INTEGRITY IN YEARS UP FRONT. KEN MORTENSON COMES TO MIND WHEN I HERE THOSE WORDS. HE HAD PRIDE AND INTEGRITY!!!

SAM HE HAS INSTILLED PRIDE AND INTEGRITY BACK INTO THE NEWBURGH CAN PLANT AGAIN AND FOR THAT I WILL FOLLOW HIM ANY WHERE AND MOST CERTAINLY NOT BLINDLY EITHER.
I WILL FOR ONCE BE WELL INFORMED AND EDUCATED.

IN LIFE YOU HAVE TO TRY TO KNOW WHEN TO GET OVER THE TRACKS AND OUT OF HARMS WAY BEFORE THE TRAIN HITS YOU.

OR BE REALLY SMART AND GET ON BOARD THE UNION TRAIN AND REALLY GO PLACES. THANKS AGAIN SAM FOR ALL OF THIS

  4. The first thing I would like is for management to keep coming out to the floor during this maintenance overhaul and start truly watching your employees. During this overhaul you have many people working 11 days straight if not more. A lot of them are skimping on their breaks because they are devoted to their jobs. Every single employee is doing their absolute best to get things done and continue making cans while lines are down for maintenance. Yes these individuals are being paid, but their also putting their families on hold and exhausted from working 12 or more hours every day till the job is done. I am so proud to be a part of MCC now with the employees we have and the IBEW. I have never seen us work so diligently (Paul McGinness)together. We all seem so in sink with one another. I think there is only one reason for this.....A CONTRACT! So management, I want you to keep a vivid memory of what is taking place and when our negotiations begin and Inbev tells you we're not worth a penny more, I want you to remember what every MCC employee did for OUR plant and be able to look us in the eye and tell us the same, knowing you didn't fight for us again.

  5. Your little union brotherSeptember 21, 2010 at 7:57 PM

I would like to try for a 3 or 5 year contract. The first year I just want what we have now!!! Nothing more, nothing less. After the first, I would like to see a 1% raise each year. Also a dollar or two towards our pension each year. I think after 15 years of service 4 weeks of vacation is fair. Our night differential has not been touched in years. We should be compensated a little better because the hours are definately taking a toll on us. I know I'm jumping around but there are so many things to be negotiated. I may be asking for a lot, but don't forget we are sacrificing years off our lives for the hours we work. Check all the statistics.....they are proven!!

  6. I definately want one thing!!! Screw Tony saying now we might have golf outings within the company again because upper management thought Carlos Burrito wanted to do away with them. I want golf outings with our IBEW brothers and sisters!!!!

  7. I just want to aknowledge the hard work being done by all during this overhaul. We have people working in areas that they're not use to, and the job is getting done. Just goes to show the dedication of the employees at MCC Newburgh.

  8. 6:55 outstanding you are so right. When I go to work now I feel good. I even feel good about the people I work with. Sam gave that back to us.

The managers that we have suck,Well not all the real people up in the front office are Dave Jenkins he treats you with respect & Todd Connor
is someone you can trust and any team member will tell you that.

My brothers & sisters keep up the good work...We can and we will be # 1.

  9. I agree with Budwiser and YES WE DID!!!..Management please take notice to your hourly employees how hard they are working on this maint. overhaul..If you haven't noticed let me fill you in. First let me start by saying the place is a mad house with contractors all over the plant..people are being cautious and working safely and getting the job done. The break room is empty because your hourlies want to make a difference not because Warren is standing in the break room with his nasty mean face that you carry around most of the time. The guys that are running the lines are keeping things going working around opsticles that are in their way. So management when we sit down at the table remember this week on how hard these guys have been working to make you (front office) shine. We are not asking for much just to be treated fairly across the board.

  11. A CONTRACT WISH LIST:
All I want for Christmas is; (SEE MY LIST SANTA)
    1. One (1) dollar a year, per contract year in my retirement. Retro to 2010 fiscal year. And our pension stays as the type it is for the lenght of the contract.
    2. A rollback to the 2008 health care choices at the same payroll deduction rate. Dental included.
    3. A 2.5 % raise year 1, 2% year 2, 1.5% yr. 3.
    4. No change to gain share. Because we are the best!
    5. 1 vacation day added each year of the contract.
    6. 1 floating holiday added for the life of the contract (for a total of 1 day)
    7. Require the company to call broadcast radio stations and inform employees of inclement weather conditions and physical plant needs.
    8. Create a better discipline system than exists now.
    9. Standardize a "real world criteria" for promoting people.
    10. Break times are fine, keep them paid and increase lunch to 45 minutes.
    11. Change the overtime requirements for crews on shift change weekends. Working that Saturday night might not be too healthy to start days on Monday.
    12. If you are legitimately sick for your 3 days in a row it is 1 attendance occurance not 3, Dr. Note required. No occurance with note. Your accrued sick hours can be taken. See next.
    13. Sick time, to be accrued at the rate of 2 hours per 6 months, not to excede 3 days in a calendar year (carried over) and not a use it or lose it. If you have to go to the Dr. or have some kind of medical appointment you can lose money for something you have no control over. (Drs don't really care about your work schedule.)and not have to worry about losing a full days pay or getting a swap just to go to the Drs for a blood test. Abusers can be disciplined.
More to follow, this was just off the top of my tusks.
Attend meetings, add to this list. Be involved it is about you!

Maybe we should all keep an eye on what happens to Adams et al versus Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. et al.
If it comes down to it it may become a huge class action suit.
maybe it will stop the Inbev redistribution of American Wealth to Brazil (a huge bribe).
Can a foreign owned company screw with the retirement pension system set up by the American company they bought? I would believe you bought the company knowing all its assets and debits, including its debt to retirees. Inbev's action is quite callous. I think it's (the pension system) covered by the 1974 act. (Go to labor.org) This is the US of A, not Brazil, not Belgium.
Just because Brito bought a Lincoln with Yugo money doesn't mean he should be allowed to steal the promises to the employees by the former owners. And it is supposedly federally insured.
Watch this lawsuit carefully, we may have to join it in the future.

Thank you 9:43 for the info.

  17. The Walrus rocks it! perfect starting list of what we need to discuss for our maiden contract.

What we also need to do, peeps, is build. We need to gather together, to strengthen our bonds, to have unity celebrations as possible to send the message loud and clear: There are no outsiders in 363 at MCC!

If all I get out of the first contract is what we have now, plus the knowledge that I'm working with friends and family again, I'll vote yes in a heartbeat. Maybe I'm naive, but I need to want to come to work! And I need to feel like we matter again.

  22. This is what i want. I want to come to work and like it again. I want to come to work and not worry if I am not going to be able to afford my health insurance now or in the future. I want to get a fair and modest raise. I want to be treated with respect. I don't want to worry about our managers playing games and treating us like children. I want to get along with my coworkers. I want to make cans.

Heres what I don't want. I don't want any bullshit just because I am a union worker now.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'll take a 1 year contract over easy with 1% raise because tony bhala said we never had two years without a raise. Also I'll take a stack of one dollar pancakes to add for my pension. Oh yes I would like my health care to remain the same with no increase because if you increase my health care that would mean It would be two years without a raise and I heard AB doesn't do that.

    Oh very important!!
I would also like the company Doctor to actually be a reputable doctor not someone that overrides a specialist. hmmm I'll think of more later.

  24. Dear MCC
Another day above ground is a good day
I firmly believe in what the Walrus has stated. Good Job Walrus
Today we need to be together with all our brothers and sisters to always do the best job we can.
Remember the WE CAN attitude in the start-up days of this plant
    Remember the MAKE MORE attitude
Well Sam has brought this attitude back to this plant, Thank you Sam
Now it is up to all of us to continue these attitudes and beliefs
We need to work together with management and make more cans
We do this for the benefit of our Families and our Plant
This plant gives us the livelihood we have, so we need to take care of our livelihood.
In return we expect our livelihood to take care of us.
That is all we ask for, but we want it in writing.
We want to be treated with respect.
Work with PRIDE and STRENGTH, together we can do it.

Also I like what show up just said about the company doctor. lets add that if a specialist is used by the employee, then the company should have an equal specialist of their chosing, not a walk in clinic, havent seen his toes in years, wanna be a real doctor quack.
OR just accept a board certified physician that both the union and the company accepts.

Better medical coverage at a same cost as now not 35%.Go back to the Delta Dental plan we used to have for same price as last year.More options in our 401k plan ,lose the fees and keep the matching rate as it is now.up our retirement to 70 dollars per month /per yr of service.Have the company pay for our uniforms and our shoes, we destroy them for them let them pay for them.Increase our night time pay differential to at least 50 cents something is better than nothing. we have never had an increase since the inception. The rest of the world has.keep vacations the same except a 4th week for people there 20 yrs or better. Thats fair, they earned it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. yes we did,
and my fellow team members. i understand what you say but remember Sam can not give you what you dont have. I have pride and integrity i dont now or ever needed anyone to instill that into me, it is mine to have or lose. if you need someone to instill that in you, you need to look deeper into what is wrong and if joining something helps you so be it. Just be honest about it. The company may piss me off many times and do underhanded things, but they can not take away or give me my pride, integrity, and sense of right or wrong. The company has many faults that need to be delt with but lets not confuse personal needs (maybe a hug is needed) and what is needed to make a better place to work. If we bring in to many personal things we will be no better than the management. The main point is lets get what is best for all of us not what is good for just the company, union, or some people's pet peves. We need to address the issues pay, benifits, work rules, and management/hourly relation. For those who wish me to get on the train, i say this.. i will get on the train that is going in the direction i want not just one that everyone is getting on. one can only do this when one has self-pride and beliefe in oneself. remember mostly we make the place good or bad not the mangement not the union. we control what is goin on. if someone runs up front they need to feel the void, if they work half harted and make you work harder, deal with it. So lets keep it civil and professional. The team members are best, dispite the management, and regarless of union or not.

  35. 3:39 Regarding your comment:

Wow--That was deep. Maybe you don't realize we were starting to take a beating before the union was called in. No pay increase, higher health care, higher deductables, pay for our 401k--etc, etc. We were like a piece of dust getting blown around by the wind. We are still uncertain of our future--but we had to try something. Rolling like a freight train....

    ReplyDelete
  36. Also dont forget we can't drive 1/2 a mile at lunch time to get a sandwich or a slice of pizza. Unless you are mgt. What's up with that? We are all adults...No respect.

    ReplyDelete
  37. With all due respect to you 3:39Pm, you unfortunately miss the entire concept of joining together and what caused it. Actually, subconsciously you do not miss it, consciously you do. Here are your words:

"The company may piss me off many times and do underhanded things, but they can not take away or give me my pride, integrity, and sense of right or wrong."

That is exactly what we collectively stand for. After your statement you confuse the issue more -talking about not falling into the trap of doing what is good for the union. Good for the union? That is not a subject here. There is no scale of "goodness" in this for the union. We are here and we were CHOSEN to represent the people. All of the people. You have swallowed hook ,line and sinker the comapny strategy of painting the union as someone else - a third party. But it is not, it is all of us. THE PEOPLE HERE ARE THE UNION HERE.

What matters is what is good for the people. Did your left and right ear hear the union say that?

"What matters is what is good for the people"

I ask you - how can you - A WORKER- argue against those who defend THE WORKERS? Against your own coworkers EFFORTS TOWARD EVERYONES BENEFIT? Truthfully, that boggles my mind.

But here - make me look stupid, get Tony Britto or even Dan Kimutis on here and have them make that same statement and really put it into action and we can meet at the table tonight.

"What matters is what is good for the people"

The union means that from our core.

But you and I know the company will not make the statement the union just made. Why? Why don't you EXPLAIN to us here why you think that may be.......

A worker who writes what I quoted you writing above and then rejects the people who defend the workers is comparable to a battered wife blaming the police.

Hope you see things differently sometime but you will always have a voice here. It actually gives me a chance to educate people on the very American concept of helping your fellow man and sticking together for a common cause.

Thanks and come around - come to the meetings and listen to what is happening -I bet we can make you see the light.....

    ReplyDelete
  38. To 3:39 with due respect
You need to come to the meetings and see for yourself

We are here for the people
We are here for everyone’s concerns and thoughts
We want everyone come together and work as one
We want to make cans with Respect and Pride
We want our families to be happy with our choice
We want to be happy with our choice
We will always have some that do not want change, but change is here and you need to accept that and try to help us do what we need to do.
So let’s all just get along and complete the tasks at hand, a contract
Please just give it some time, you will see a new light, and it will be good

  42. Listen, once we get our contract in place we are going to meet between ourselves and come up with ways we believe will increase production and we are going to meet with the company to discuss that issue.

That is the kind of workforce and union WE are going to be. We need our contract. We need to know what we have and be able to bring it home and read and absorb it. We want to work and not worry. Our goal is to have Carlos Britto brag about Newburgh and use us as an example of what good can come out of a partnership between union employees and the company . People may chuckle at that but why can't it happen?

We want the company to stop our worry about our pay and benefits and we want to stop the companys worry about our union.

    Why not?

Working together - us first - then us and the company - is what will make this place run like a top, with more energy, with a focus never seen before. That is a true statement. Never seen before for these same reasons all around.

Great things are going to happen here. Be part of it. You will see it is above board, fair and very informative. Help your fellow workers maintain and even improve what you have.

It's real and it's just us.

3:39; The train has left the station, your ticket has been punched yet you still don't get it. You say management has made you pissed at times, among other gripes. So that is you issue? They have questioned your integrity, your devotion to duty, probably even your expertise at your job. Yet you still feel a need to be umbilically attached to the very people who have jettisoned your loyalty. Focus your energy with making it all right. Sam really isn't promising anything other than the security of a written contract, negotiated with the company for our benefit. Don't "probably join" with us,JOIN WITH US. It is your future too! Disregard the people who have made this a forum for payback and personal vendetta. This is a place to exchange views, air out the inequities, to focus ourselves and move in the right direction ( a mutually agreed contract). No one will question your reasons, motives or anything,as long as you focus on the advancement of us all, and yes we are the best. we have been told that for years. Now we deserve the reciprocation of being treated like the best. Take your seat on the train, please.

Hey,12:29PM,you are so correct! We get all this great new techno and we don't know squat about it, the ET's don't either.and the company buys it,tells the contractor "great job" and we are stuck with our collective "dick" in our hands with what to do with it! Yes perhaps when the company does such HARDWARE installations and I'm not talking some dumbass computer tracking program I mean production equipment maybe, just maybe we should be taught on how it works. and I don't mean here's the manual from XX company, read it.Maybe XX should show up and give us a real heads up. Not 30 minutes per crew operators in the training room. Real training.
A question for management? When you buy or get that new car do you hold Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc. responsible for how your vehicle performs? Make them honor the warrantee or do you say "It's mine"!I'll figure it out! It seems that happens at the plant.....alot. PROACTIVE TRAINING! Don't guess, we know how it works. Have the people who make it show up and really teach us. It will make us more than better at our jobs.
This isn't a bargaining point, just a tip from some employees, trying to make the team\management more valuable.
We still are the same people with some great ideas. we are still committed to the "team concept".Bear with us,you'll profit from it and so will we.

WELL WELL THERES MY 8.28 POSTER. IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO GET BACK ON.

BEEN WAITING TO HERE ABOUT HOW MANY MEETINGS YOU WENT TO. ZERO EH? IM NOT TRYING TO CUT YOU DOWN AT ALL BUT FOR SOMEONE WHO ALREADY HAS LOTS OF PRIDE AND INTEGRITY I DONT SEE MANY POSITIVE MESSAGES IN ANY OF YOUR WRITINGS?

    WHY IS THAT MR. PRIDE?

ANOTHER THING,WHAT KIND OF A STATEMENT IS THIS

QUOTE: so how does sam make cans? How is he going to help us when the management starts to place a manager on A crew to start the "ball" rolling. if the management is going to come after us ( as it appears to be with the Baily thing)
ME TALKING NOW HERES THE KICKER EVERYONE.
8.28ER SAYS. then we will have no choice but to go strongly for the union.
WOW. IM NOT EVEN SURE HOW TO ANSWER THAT
    WELL THAT'S NOT TRUE
YOU ALREADY HAD A CHOICE WE ALL HAD A CHOICE AND SMARTLY WE CHOSE FOR THE 363 IBEW TO REPRESENT US. NOW NOT WAIT UNTIL AFTER THE MANAGEMENT TEAM DECIDES TO DO ANYTHING
WE DECIDED FOR THEM ABOUT US AS A GROUP

DONT YOU GET IT? NOW IM NOT PICKING ON YOU BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO WAIT UNTIL THE MANAGEMENT TEAM DOES SOMETHING TO YOU. AS IT APPEARS THEY ALREADY HAVE MANY TIMES ACCORDING TO YOU
    THE NEXT LINE QUOTE AGAIN.
if the company is a little magnamious then we need to examine what the union will do for us.
These things will come to lite soon and then i will know what to do
NEWS FLASH: AS OF 8.28 WE BECAME THE BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE 363 IBEW

WE DONT NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO WE ALREADY DID IT

FOR SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T NEED ANYONE TO INSTILL PRIDE AND INTEGRITY INTO YOU WHY WOULD YOU WAIT TO INCLUDE YOURSELF INTO A MORE POSITIVE GROUP OF PEOPLE UNTIL SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS TO YOU?

THAT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE SOMEONE THAT HAS PRIDE AND INTEGRITY ALREADY.
IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE THAT IS AND LET ME QUOTE YOU BUT AGAIN: uncommitted and skeptical and that you are in it for yourself and only join out of ones own self interest quote

IN YOUR OTHER LETTER YOUR ALL OVER THE PLACE FIRST LET ME CLEAR THE AIR I LIKE HUGS.
SOUNDS LIKE YOU MIGHT NEED ONE I COULD GIVE YOU ONE I'M A REALLY NICE GUY

YOU TALK ABOUT BRINGING IN PERSONAL THINGS AND PET PEVES I HAVEN'T SEEN OR HEARD ANY PERSONAL THINGS OR PET PEVES
AND IF YOU HAD GONE TO ANY MEETINGS LIKE MOST OF US 363ERS YOU WOULD KNOW THAT BY NOW
THAT IS WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO GO WETHER YOU AGREE WITH IT OF NOT SEE THATS WHAT HAD CHANGED ALREADY IT SO SIMPLE REALLY NOW YOU DO HAVE A CHOICE YOU MENTIONED THAT BEFORE ALSO.
YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD!
    NOT LIKE BEFORE
THAT SAM GUY THE ONE YOU SAY WHAT HAS HE DONE FOR US SO FAR. WELL ANOTHER THING HE DOES WELL FOR US IS HE LISTENS TO OUR NEEDS AND ISSUES.
YOU DONT KNOW HOW MANY WEEKS HE LISTENED TO ALL OF OUR GRIPES AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT MCC ISSUES AND ALOT OF THE SAME STORIES OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND NEVER ONCE DID HE SEEM UNINTERESTED!
TOTALLY UNLIKE OUR CURRENT MANAGEMENT TEAM THE BIG 3 WHO LOOK RIGHT THROUGH YOU LIKE YOUR TAKING UP THERE DONUT EATING TIME

WE ASK YOU AGAIN TO GET ON THE TRAIN AND ALL YOU CAN SAY IS.
QUOTE AGAIN SORRY EVERYONE BUT THE POINT HAS TO BE MADE
QUOTE for those who wish me to get on the train I SAY THIS i will get on the train that is going in the direction i want not just the one that everyone is getting on LOL WOW

YOUR LIKE THE KID THAT WANTS TO GO ON THE MERRY-GO-ROUND AND EVERYONE ELSE WANTS THE FAST AND EXCITING ROLLER COASTER, WHEN EVERYONE LEAVES YOU IN THE COTTON CANDY LINE YOU TURN AROUND AND START CRYING CAUSE YOUR ALL ALONE

WELL WERE ASKING YOU NOT TO BE ALONE
    IT WILL BE OKAY REALLY
WE'LL EVEN GET ONE OF THOSE LEASHES FOR YOU SO YOU DON'T GET LOST IN THE CROWD
WE REALLY DO YOU LOVE YOU

I DONT KNOW WHAT OTHER TRAIN YOUR GOING ON BECAUSE I ONLY SEE ONE TRAIN AND OUR TRAIN IS ONLY GOING IN ONE DIRECTION

SUCCESS AND TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN

  46. Ralphie! You'll shoot your eye out. Which means we really need a good healthcare provision in the contract.
Hungrynready: actually they have such a program. Just don'tsay your idea too loud or as a "fix it", 6 months down the road it ain't your idea no more. Ask for the "800 number".
The "Victory Party shouldn't be held until we have won our contract. Then you really will have something to rally around and party.
Speaking of the contract please use this forum to state want you want to see, need to have, whatever, in the contract.
YOUR PARTICIPATION AND INPUT are GREATLY APPRECIATED AND NEEDED. SPEAK UP! WE CAN'T DO IT ALL WITH OUT YOU!

  47. One last point. 3:39,8:28 or whatever, whoever you are. You are now in the union, no matter how much you stamp your feet, whine, whatever. If you spent the energy you have used making your "case"you would realize that Sam is our business agent, our A-line union rep. Not some god, your ally, someone who is going to be with us, you, every step of the way in our quest for a contract. He is our negotiator in chief, our disiplinarian in all matters pertaining to the union. OUR GO TO GUY. He knows squat about making cans. But I will guarantee you he will know enough to be dangerous before the contract is signed. He will learn our culture as we will learn the 363 culture. Sam will be as MCC as you so debunch you undies and come along for the ride.Be results oriented. Trust Me. He'll learn what it is to be one of us, he is surrounded by good teachers. It will benefit us all.

    Let's stop that.
    Not serving our cause.
It can be speculated against us.
    No more.
    Let's show unity.
Even the Walrus is starting to slip into that trap.
I was temped but able to resist.
We need our energy pooled for a good contract.
    Be nice to one another.

  49. Another day above ground is a good day.

We need to all work together for a common goal.

Our Families, so let's start by working together and make some cans

We are Union now so let's start acting like it and become one happy family

It’s natural for family Brothers and Sister’s to fight, but the end result is WE ARE FAMILY.

We will work out our differences because we are family.

Families always get along because we are one

One family with one goal, Make Cans

Please be nice to each other

  50. I heard a rumor that management is very happy we have a union. How could they not.. we are working harder than ever making this company world class so now Its time for corporate to acknowledge us! there are many team members talking collectively that we want to bring this plant to a new level a level that had not been reached before we want to be the best in the world!! lets do it team!!! IBEW rocks!!!

  51. to all,
I have read what you said pertaining to what i have written. What i see are couple of people who feel they have to be a little confrontational and a little pompus. what makes you think you have all of the answers? why is it you say one can say what one wants, and you take such acception to it? This makes me feel that your words and deeds don't match. i wonder where i have seen that before? you say i should go to the meetings, what makes you think i have not? some people are acting as if they just came from an amway convention and are all gung ho to show their stuff.
why is it that some people think they know all of the answers yet still work as an hourly? shouldn't you be on a pedestal passing judgement on others? enough with that. the point is that as you say i have a right to speak to air my views yet you take offense to it. This more than anything shows me that you may not be the person i could talk to, for you talk about little kids, yet act like one who doesn't get their way. I still believe that the people who work here make the place not anyone else. i am not a fool and will not just follow anyone blindly, just because the promise me something. As each of us has to prove ourselves at work, i will wait for Sam to prove himself to me. The type of contract that is worked out will show me. for sam is the professional at this so it should be a fair contract. I know the company and believe that they dont have my best interest at heart, that is what companies do, The union may be the answer. but dont expect me to believe blindly what anyone says. Actions, and history are the proof. I do not want to have two people or entities pecking at me, one will be enough. Remember what walrus said Sam will "disapline" among other things. this is what the company does also. So you should know that i am not into "disapline" by anyone. to each of my fellow team members i hope that at the end of the day we will be better off that when we went down this road. i hold no hard feelings, i just want to air my views and see the type of people this brings out. then i will know.

  53. People don't fight each other, that is what management loves, that is the concept BEHIND pro employee!,they sit back and let us fight between ourselfs, then step in ,when out of control, they keep us seperated perposly, when all is said and done, management comes out smelling like a rose,WE are working together on the production floor, lets work together on this site as well, remember,we are organized now,IBEW-ALL,that is what management feared, all as one,no more
"pro employee",that is what kept us seperated, don't fall for the managemeent trap,we need to work, bargin, negoeate, together as one, that initself, will keep management in check

  54. I don't like it when my IBEW union brothers and sisters fight. All the name calling upsets me. Remember why the Great Wall of China and the Statue of Liberty were built! 55. YOUR LITTLE UNION BROTHERSeptember 23, 2010 at 9:53 AM

Lets ignore the initial comments not pertaining to what this particular blog is for. All they're doing is stopping us from focusing. Besides it's probably a manager writing them. Lets focus on "WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SEE IN YOUR CONTRACT"!!! I think THE WALRUS proposed a very good contract. I want MVP medical coverage back. I really don't care if MVP wouldn't show their books. That doesn't change the fact that they were the best health care provider there was. I also want our past coverage from Delta Dental. The new plan is horrible. Even my dentist said we had a great plan, but the new one doesn't cover nearly as much as the one we had prior. Lets focus!!! What other ideas do you have?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Passion,

Someone had the idea of waiting til we have our contract. That's probably the best victory of all. So why not wait til then. Can't wait to party down with my dogs!!!!!

  57. dear 7:55 you seem like a confusd person on all the issues. SAM is here for us trust me on that oh that's right you don't believe in other people. YOU will see at the end of the day that everything is and will be better .have you not noticed that your friends up front have already changed their tune in some ways.and some in ways they are the same all assholes that got us to this great place that we are in. at some point you will see that things are and will be better for us . if you want the knowledge you seek just ask our local brothers in the plant what they think of SAM and the whole union that may send you in that right direction because WE are on the right path .

    ReplyDelete
  58. Nobody is following Sam blindly, In fact we were all following the company blindly because we no longer had a voice. Sam is making sure we have a voive now. Its as simple as that!!! Anyway I would like to have in the contract a proceedure for choosing people for "Special Projects" making it FAIR to ALL that if there is'nt any special qualifications for these "Special Projects" only for overtime that they can not continue to pick just who they want or like. It needs to be put out to all team members to sign up for like the overtime proceedure. Sam & IBEW 363, you have done so much for ALL of us between time and research put into this. I know I'm not alone when I say THANK YOU.

    ReplyDelete
  59. OOPS! should have checked spelling voice.lol

    ReplyDelete
  60. OK EVERYBODY LET ME EXPLAIN THE OBVIOUS:

The person who is writing the blog posts about "following blindly" etc. is a management plant. A plant whose job it is to sow seeds of doubt. We took the high road and even embraced him and offered to hug and be inclucive.

Please don't waste your keyboard keys responding to that nonsense anymore.

How do I know this is a plant? Well, a couple of reasons but the most glaring one is that ANY legitimately concerned employee would be much more concerned with issues and items that pertain to their compensation and working conditions and rules than questioning something that has already been decided - like having a union.

The HIDDEN MANAGEMENT AGENDA really cannot be "hidden". In fact, it shines like a light. A dull one but it still shines.

So let us all continue on our journey for the workers - all of the workers - in the Newburgh Plant and not fall into stupid pet employee tricks designed to weaken the people.

We have too much positive work to do here than to waste ANY MORE time arguing or discussing NON ISSUES with what is not a concerned worker but just a management plant.

Sooooooo 7:55 or 8:38 or Ken or Dan or whomever else you may be - game over.

  63. Let’s all just stay focused on the task at hand.

We will work together and as Brothers and Sisters we will not always see eye to eye.
The end result is we are Family now and we will get along
We will ignore the negative attitudes and just move on
We will make cans for us, and our plant which is our livelihood
We will survive anything in our way
We will continue as we always have, but we will make more cans than ever before
We are MCC Newburgh IBEW #363 and we are Union Strong
    Thank you for your support

  64. OK has everyone got the anxiety and frustration out of their system?
    Lets get down to work.
Basically as a union member I think walrus idea for the start of a contract is defintely something I could vote on.
Ok anyone who has ideas please write them down and give them to your shop stewards, and negotiators as soon as possible please.
We need your thoughts and ideas for a contract now.Not at christmas.
This your chance to have your input and all ideas will be brought to discussion and considered.

  66. Here's the deal.I am not dissing anyone or acting out of pomposity.I am stating the fact that you are now in a union, and will be for the foreseeable future. This is your opportunity to state what you really want. Whether or not you agree is your prerogative. I agree personal attacks are uncalled for. All I ask from everybody is that you participate in the process. Do you vote in local elections? For President? Then you participate, right? It's about your future. So is this! There are Republicans and Democrats, you cast your vote for either party, but we're all still Americans, right? Well, this is kind of the same thing. There are the unionistas and those who reluctantly belong. But at the end of the day we are all 363 members. If you are a dissident make the best of a "bad" situation. You may be surprised at the reaction to your input! Dissent broadens the view. But everyone of us should be a part of the process. We have to make this work, like it or not. The most valuable asset is all of us. I feel strongly about this and if I have offended anyone I apologize.I just want us all to be successful.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Dear 8:37,
Do you know where the root of the word "discipline"originates? It is not neccessarily an allusion to punishment. Jesus had 12 disciples. was that bad? Were you in the military? Then you acquiessed to to "Military Discipline" or way of life.
A disciplinarian is one who teaches that way of life.
Yes, discipline can be punsihment also.
Read the dictionary before you climb on your pedestal and pass judgement, too.

  73. just a little thought for the contract...what do y'all think...

to me, the crew coming ON to nights should cover the second night's OT....not the crew going off...think about it, when a night guy covers Tuesday, he has 24 hours from the time he gets off work to be back at the plant and ready to go...it's not very realistic, is it?

better, I think, to let the crew going on to nights pick that one up...any comments?

    ReplyDelete
  74. I agree with you Hypnotoad. It's easier to go from day to night than the other way around. If you have to work that second night on shift change, then be to work 24 hours later,it can really screw you up.and it's probably not safe. It should be changed.

    ReplyDelete

There are so many good things that are going on right now for the good of the people. All of the workers should know that your reps are on it and they are putting in a lot time for the good oof everybody. I commend you all!

Stay tight, stay solid we are developing ourselves and our path to our conbtract.

Good idea Hypnotoad, make sure your rep unerstands your point and the logistics of your idea.

There are a lot of good ideas coming form the people - which is exactly where it should come from - it's your union and it's your contract.

All reps should have recieved a schedule for next week in an email from me. If you didn't contact me.

    ReplyDelete
  79. That is something that we can look at. I want to make sure that you guys get what you are supposed to have. In the end, you all need to have the ability to retire and actually be able to live in your senior years. So we will be discussing this further later.

I can think of why some like to start these debates because they like controversy and without it they feel like they have no life.
Some of their points are valid. Still remember what Sam told us "don't want to tear them up just because I can and am right... " that's leadership and this is what I want to see from more and more of us. More Walruses all over.

  85. Seen many good things done by many people day and night. Right up to the end of the shift. It is sometime recognized. Even if not we feel good for having shown what we are capable of.
Motivation was a big thing when we I started here.
I've been motivating myself for a long time.
Now we can do it as a group.
Keep your eye on the prize. Easy to get distracted and sidetracked.
Let's make this a true team effort for we will all be affected by the outcome or if I can bring in some optimism reap the rewards.
Any and all ideas are needed to form a picture amd get a baseline. Don't be comfortable this is not the time for that. Ask to be involved. Go to your reps and talk to them. No one person can have all the ideas answers and solutions.
Think of how good it feels when you have a mountain of cans on the floor and all of a sudden others show up to help you get them picked up.
Same thing. Feel not just motivated but also energized.
    We need this.
