IBEW Plan Works! Spoilage Is Down - Production Above Budget!

There are only more great things coming FOR US and FROM US in MCC Newburgh.

The IBEW Local 363 plan at MCC Newburgh is to FIRST increase production. We have a goal to PROVE that unionizing with the IBEW is a POSITIVE MOVE for both the workers and the company!

....and we are doing just that! We had a GREAT week hitting 5.8 MILLION CANS PRODUCED PER SHIFT and even tickled the 6 MILLION CAN MARK MULTIPLE TIMES THIS WEEK!

THE WORKERS ARE HAPPY - INSTEAD OF WORRIED......AND IT IS SHOWING UP IN PRODUCTION!

Production has been consistently above the budget of 5.7 million cans per shift! The people have become empowered and believe that they are now working for their benefit as well as the company. We know that when we hit the production numbers that the corporate office wants - they will deal with us fairly at the bargaining table.

Things look good and even spoilage is down! Another issue very important to the company! Are you listening St. Louis?? Are you watching what is happening??

This coming week we are meeting to develop our negotiating team and who will be the shop stewards on each crew.

Our people and our union have a very good attitude toward what the goal is here - to make the company profitable and to help the workers keep and improve on what they have.

No one is hoping to "break the bank" here by any stretch of the imagination.

IBEW Local 363 wants to reach out to the corporate office and offer to meet and discuss just what our plan is. I am sure that if that happened - we would ALL - both employees and management - find that we have a common goal and much common ground and that we have the chance to truly make Newburgh an example of cooperation to the ENTIRE COUNTRY.

This past week at the 2010 IBEW Membership Development Conference, I was asked to speak briefly on camera about YOU and the MCC Newburgh plant in a portion of a national IBEW video concerning organizing. People nationwide know who you are! This is and will continue to be even more of a positive story. A shining example of how to form a great partnership between management and IBEW labor.

WE PLAN ON MAKING IT ALL POSITIVE NEWS TOO.

You can see the clip at: www.ibew.org click on the video titles, "2010 Membership Development Conference" (It takes a minute to load so be patient)

There will be more national publicity about the Newburgh workers and their organizing victory coming in the NEAR future.

Come be a part of an important step in our journey this coming week...........
I and your fellow workers are waiting for you!

  11. Great job everyone! Great week!Lets keep showing the company we can acheive the goals that are set.Its hard work, but thats what we get paid for . Hard work yields rewards! Right Dan! We have been working professionally the whole time and now that we finally are as one, we will show the company that the breweries arent the only unionized ABINBEV company that is number one. Mcc Newburgh will continue to lead in all areas of our business. We have shown the company what we are all about Dan. Now its time for the company to show us what its all about. Talk with Sam. Talk to Tony. Lets get this contract done and lets move on to dominate the can business. We have some good surprises for the company if they hurry this along. Ones that will help Newburgh right now and in the future. Every minute you wait is a minute you lose out on some great ideas. So Get in touch with Sam soon its very important.

  12. Sam,
I saw the You Tube clip and I am proud to say that you represented us in a very professional manner. Although the vote was hard for some, the outcome was not rubbed in anyone's nose. This in fact makes it easier for all to come together as one.

  13. I was worried that things would continue as they have been at metal container, with the company keep cutting my benefits and no raises and my pension not getting a dime.
Now I know im not alone anymore. Thank you to all my brothers and sisters for not leaving eachother alone and making us stronger together than I would be alone. I know it was a difficult decision for some. I hope that the IBEW will represent us the same way that they promised. If they do I think we will be treated fairly and with respect. Thanks again to all of you for being brave

  20. Winning the election was just the beginning, now it's time to get down to the real work. This week we will choose our representation. Get to your meeting and make good choices. We need good people in these positions and your voice counts. Those that choose not to attend and use their say will have to accept what happens in their absence. Hope to see you ALL there.

  21. Well said, progentech-our solidarity is our strength! be respectful, be honest, and run it like you owned it! because now, for the first time in a long time, it feels like we do!

Bottom Line- keep those quality numbers comin', brothers and sisters, and mgmt will start wondering why we didn't think of this sooner!

Lol - but that's a question for another day...

    ReplyDelete
  22. schultz, klink- could you please chill out? This is not the time, place, or way to air personal grievances...either we all go forward together, or we are divided, in which case we are weaker.

Choose to be strong, it's a new day at MCC- for all of us!

    ReplyDelete
  23. well said progentech.
I hope people realize that we need to get together and make sure you are all heard. If you are lazy and do not care about what your income and benefits are, fine stay home and be quiet. Do not cry when you dont like something in the contract,or something that was missing. If you think that the company is going to be gracious and know exactly what you want, be certain they do not.
also, to the anti union crowd. The company already told you multiple times that they are not going to give you a raise anytime soon. If you think that by not negotiating a contract is somehow a good thing, you only need to see how they treated the corporate office of metal container. Not the breweries.Talk to any one of the people who work in our corporate office.Tony has no choice but to cut,Brito wants HIS money. The Only choice is to come together for ourselves and our families and grind out a contract. Sticking together has already made a positive impact.

  24. well said anonymous that is exactly the way its going to go down. lets all get active in this and participate in the meetings. Don't let the few decide what we all do. Lets see faces at these meetings.

  26. MCC Arnold hourly
Good luck with your contract talks. We at the Arnold MCC have been union from the start. I was always curious how the non union can plant hourly were treated. I guess not well recently. Be aware that as far as hourly pay we have always been well below any of the MCC non union plants. The company would never give an answer why. It seemed they perceived union plants to be a hassle. We think it provides consistent treatment of all employees, not problems. Hopefully, your transition to union will prove that a union is not detrimental to productivity and force MCC to treat everyone at their other plants fairly.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The reality is they never were honest with you. They tried to tell us that we would lose money if we went union, you would think that would be in their benefit but they put a lot of effort, time and money making sure they could sway our vote. hmmmm . We are together pass the word on to your team in Arnold and Jax this is for u too. Let us be the best in the industry let us not bow down but hold our heads high lets make an abundance of high quality cans for the burrito. Let them see that Arnold,Jax and newbugh are 1,2 and 3 on all benchmarks

  28. Thanks for your input Arnold. We need all the support we can get. Don't look at the disparities that are thrown up as to why there are pay differences. As much as management disputes this we are in the high rent areas. But we are also strategically sited that our plant can supply 3 maybe even 4 breweries. Newark, NJ, Baldwinsville, NY, Merrimac, NH and even Williamsburg, Va. Our plant is located in close proximity to several major highwats. I-87 (NY State Thruway), I-84. Major transportation arteries. We have even supplied St. Louis in the past. We were always treated like gold. Until Inbev raped our company. If you have followed the blog you'll see the multitude of reasons why. We welcome your support for our fledgling effort here and we are all in this together, all the plants. Someday Windsor and Mira Loma will be with us too. One large collective bargaining unit. The answer to how to beat them at their own game is to be the best we can all be. Listen to their cosmic views on management and just do your job to the best of your ability. We are all in it to be treated fairly. Is the discipline procedure the same there as it is in a non-union plant. Level 1, etc? We went union to protect ourselves, and in the long run all of us. Tomorrow A and B crews elect their Stewards, Steward alternates and Negotiators and Alternates. C and D 2 days later, and maint. Turnout should be huge. Thanks for your support Arnold.

  32. Question: How many bosses does it take to screw in a light bulb?

Answer: One. He holds up the light bulb and expects the universe to revolve around him.

  33. An Irish airliner ceo set forth a plan and is waiting approval from the authorities to approve only one pilot in the cockpit and if that pilot needs help just call a flight attendant. story( http://www.cnbc.com/id/39166427
One of Ryanair's pilots called for the removal of the ceo because anyone could do the job at the fraction of the pay. I agree anyone that is greedy enough to eliminate jobs and pay for the workers that make the company run and hoard the savings for themselves should be replaced. Its time for the rebirth of global unionization its time for all to hop aboard the union express to forge ahead a change of corporate greedy behavior. I urge a unionization of the remaining mcc can and lid plants. All Locals can then have a central media point for discussion within a secure environment. We can make this happen within 3 years? right Sam? We must have a strong union

  34. Union made. Union strong. Keep cranking out the cans!! Will be there Sam on thur.

  35. Your Conscience Is CallingSeptember 14, 2010 at 9:05 PM

We had our meetings today. Fair turnout. If you really want to make something of this get off your dead asses and show up! If you don't show you are back to a small group making all your decisions for you. If you are happy with that more power to you, if not? either show up and be counted or accept what happens. NO BITCHIN'! Some important votes happened today, was your absentee vote counted? NO! You'd better be content with what happened because without your input you have blown it!. We had enough for a quorum. We need a plethorem! Like was said on an earlier post, we announced our independance, party's over let's go home. WRONG!!
What do you want in YOUR CONTRACT! Come and be heard. Be involved in your future. Apathy sucks. But just as is the MCC way, I'll just step around it, the next guy will fix it. No more. Attend your meetings or be left behind. If you have no interest in your future with this company step out of the way. Be steamrolled. Participate, even if it's from a distance. It's my future, it's yours. I doing something about it are you?
