We are back from the Labor Board in NYC. The company had a high powered Attorney from Manhattan and an Attorney from St. Louis there to protect themselves from YOU AND US.
Stay solid, stay strong -
I am sure that the cost alone to have those two fine professionals in Labor law attend that meeting including lodging, meals and airfare must be at least as much as you all pay now to have your 401k's administered.
If not more.
That extra money the company has should go for YOUR benefit - not to stop you from acting for YOUR benefit.
We have an Election Date. Actually we have TWO DATES. You can vote on either day. The dates are Friday August 27 and Saturday August 28. The voting will take place in the Training Room at the plant. The times to vote will be THREE TIMES during each day.
Morning 5AM to 7PM
Mid day 11:00AM to 1:30PM
Night 5PM to 7PM
The number of employees the company told the Labor Board that they believe would be eligible to vote was 164. We think that is padded up but we will deal with it. They told the Board they were all hourly employees and NOT management. The company now has to send a complete list to the Labor Board and they will forward that list to us.We will review that list for managers names and challenge those votes anyway.
Here are the classifications that are included in the bargaining unit:
All full-time and regular part-time production and maintenance employees, including all Production Technicians, General Technicians, Electrical Plant Technicians, Mechanical Plant Technicians, Chemical Plant Technicians, Production Chemical technicians, team leaders, Maintenance Core Employees, Maintenance Rotating Employees, OJT Instructors, Shipping Coordinators, Quality Coordinators, Store Room Coordinators, and SAP Maintenance Coordinators employed by the employer at its facility located at 130 Bruenig Road, New Windsor, NY.
As you can see from how detailed this list is there will surely be at least a few managerial people trying to vote. We already know who. This was NOT ENOUGH for us to delay the election.
WE HAVE ENOUGH NUMBERS TO WIN THIS BIG TIME! EVEN IF THEY TRY TO PLAY THE SYSTEM!
The best part is going to be that when you guys vote for the union - all of your "managers" POSITIONS will be in OUR CONTRACT! They might not want to come but THEIR JOBS WILL - right to us. You guys can fill those jobs after this!
Vote yes and they will be asking you what THEY should do.
Stay solid, stay strong -
Today at the Labor Board we just wanted to get an Election date set and get moving. I am sure you are going to be so sick of THE COMPANY TRYING TO WEAR YOU DOWN by the end of August but you have to just do THESE FOUR little THINGS - be polite, listen and be strong and be solid.
YOU GUYS HAVE THIS WON IF YOU STICK TOGETHER.
WE WILL IMPROVE THINGS TOGETHER AND WE WILL WORK FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE COMPANY AND THE WORKERS FOR A CHANGE AT THE SAME TIME.
Get ready to be part of IBEW Local 363!
We will stay strong !!!
ReplyDeleteWe will vote yes !!!
We will be one voice for a new plant with a New Family.
The Family of I.B.E.W. 363
We will stay strong now and after the VOTE.
Thanks Sam for being there for us the workers of MCC.
Sam if you need any help with sortting out the list of employees let me know.
ReplyDeleteThanks again Sam
I can always use more help. I will ask you to contact me after I get it. THE COMPANY has to give us all 164 names and addresses. Any managers names on it will be discussed right here on this site.
ReplyDeleteThey are taking big chances.....lol We will have their positions in our contract......nice move.
You guys are going to control a little more than you thought - All you need to do is stay together.....
YOU ALREADY HAVE THE NUMBERS - BE POLITE, LISTEN, GO IN THE BOOTH AND VOTE YES.
Sam,
ReplyDeleteThyanks for all your hard work, it is truly appreciated.
I'd like to buy you a brew someday, or maybe three.
Can you go into some detail on how the voting process will work?
Thanks!
about time!
ReplyDeleteIt's go time. Lets stay strong and vote for what we agree on. A FAIR DEAL.....
ReplyDelete5:01 PM If you copy and paste this link in your search browser- you will get the Official Guide from the National Labor Relations Board spelling out everything that happens in the Election Process.
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking - I will make sure to repeat this a few times between now and August27 -28

has anybody heard any good antiunion speeches lately?
ReplyDeleteAll the managers know this is a good thing for everyone we "can" move on from here with a union and start a new chapter in bud and in buddies. and for some who speak negatives on change they will also see the light its just a little blurry from all the management interaction they had over the years. Go burrito! We will work hard for you when we know we have some say in the process. You see we are a data driven work force and we want again to be able to monitor the process. No hard feelings lets make this one of the top notch companies together WITH representation.
ReplyDelete7:03 PM - That will be exactly what we will do. We need to become the ultimate MCC place in every way.
ReplyDelete....and we will do it with a fair contract.
Well we went too the first meeting I know we can make it just stay focused we will soon be 363.
ReplyDeleteSam is Mr Blue high end lawyer?38 more days of these meetings,Dan wants us to go too more then one dealership. He also said that we have a better deal then Ball we don't agree with that they have a contract we don't.
ReplyDeleteSam we need a fix after listening to this nonsense they still don't get it we are solid.
ReplyDeleteWhen is the next meeting we like listening too you? Vote Yes
Hey Budweiser this is Bud Light did you hear your speech yet? Is it breaking you down ?
ReplyDeleteI'm still strong & solid.........
8:32 PM - We will have one soon - I know....I promise we will have a good meeting when we do have it.
ReplyDeleteIf this is going to work it is all up to us. The truth is that we the workers in this place control this election. We need to get together and make this happen this is ridiculous that Dan and the rest of this company can't see we want this and need this.
ReplyDeleteLets Go Get Our Contract everybody needs to vote and support ourselves. Vote for local 363
Never once did Dan mention - contract.
ReplyDeleteSign a contract with us, that's all we are asking. What is so hard about that?
Remember back when Dan first came to Newburgh. He talked about trust. How we needed to trust him to have our best interests at heart. We all thought it was a dawning of better days to come.
The fact of the matter is Dan has no authority to promise us anything. He can't do what's best for us even if he really did care.
Now it's up to us. We have to trust each other. We are the ones determinnig our future. We have to trust that each of us will stick together, see through the union busting tactics and VOTE YES.
Hi Bud Light,
ReplyDeleteI brought my beat up car into the dealer the other day. They don't want to fix it correctly. They don't want to sell me a new car and now I have to pay all types of fees that I never had to pay before.
So I took some great advice from a buddy of mine, to not just go to one dealer, try another one.
Well, let me tell you, this other dealer is giving me top dollar for my clunker, They want to sell me a beautiful new car and my service plan has absolutely no hidden fees!
Wish me luck in my new ride!!!
By the way, the best thing about this new car is the stereo!!!! It only plays one song......"SOLID......SOLID LIKE A ROCK"
To the people who are sitting on the fence.
ReplyDeleteThe union is not trying to come between you and management.
We asked the IBEW to help us. So that we would not be viewed by Inbev as just another cost of doing business. A cost they have easily cut and will continue to cut.
Dan tried to make it sound like it was all a bunch of union workers and unproffessional - ignorant- not his exact words - Newburgh Can Plant hourlies commenting on this site.
That can not be farther from the truth.
But how can we prove that without getting fired?
If Dan said no one who worked towards uniting the hourly workers would be fired for it - even if he put it in writting - we would still be fired. You all know how that works - they wait a few months, then find some obscure sop that you and everone else has ignored for years and the next thing you know - your fired for poor job performace.
It's catch 22.
So when Dan says to you - they don't even tell you who is making comments on the blog. It could be anyone. Think hard about who it is that can be trusted.
VOTE YES
Yes, I remember Dan when he first got here. Everyone was hopeful he would be better than Tony Blah Blah.
ReplyDeleteI know Dan has nothing to do with this because these decisions are not made at his level but
Since then
Salaried Employees have their pensions frozen in 2012.
Salaried Employees used to get vacation credit at the beginning of the year, the way we do. Now they have to earn it through the year. This means that if they choose to retire or find a new job in the middle of the year, they lose half of their vacation.
Lower level Salaried employees lost the Gainshare.
Salaried positions are not filled - making other managers work even harder and less effectively - but saving lots on salaried labor costs.
Everyone is paying more for Healthcare and getting less service for the money.
Everyone is paying for the 401K service that NONE of us got to choose. We could have got a better service from Fidelity.
Hourly workers got zero pay increase.
Hourly workers got zero pension increase.
Meanwhile, the upper exs are pulling in unbelievable bonuses.
WE THE WORKERS ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN STOP THIS ABUSE OF POWER.
YOU FENCE SITTERS - ARE YOU READING THIS???
ARE YOU READING THE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS NEWS?
If you are thinking that this is the result of a soon to pass economic downturn - you've been watching too much FOX news in the cafeteria.
The era of Pro-Employee is over.
We are the only ones who are going to take care of US.
Join us - Unionize
If Salaried Employees could have unionized, they may have been able to avoid their losses.
Unlike Salaried Employees, we have the legal right to protect ourselves. We Must Unionize so that we have a say in the compromises Inbev has already shown they will demand in their ongoing efforts to cut their costs to increase their profits.
VOTE YES IN AUGUST
The union will definitely be getting voted in. Both sides feed off the fear of the employees at this point and the only reasonable solution is to VOTE YES.
ReplyDeleteThe union will not fire one single employee. Can you say the same for our management team? You can take your chances with your Level 1, Level 2, and so on if you want. That process is such a joke.
I know which way I'm going. 1% is a small price to pay for continued employment. And let me tell you something, if this union is like any other that I have dealt with, they will defend you, no matter what, you will have a very good defense team.
Will the company care about your house, bills, family, anything....."You are going to have to do whatever you feel is right"
you know when an employee has a level one and wins it then its overturn by plant manager? happened a few too many times and what do they call that? Pro employee
ReplyDeleteDanny,
ReplyDeleteAlot of good points in these posts. As you can see-it seems like most of the workers want the same thing-to be treated fairly and not have to worry about what will be taken away next.
Why would I want to trade one bully 8000 miles away for one 8 miles away? Wake up and smell the roses!!!!
ReplyDelete.....because the bully 8 miles away is on your side. The roses smell sweet to me.
ReplyDeleteGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UNION GOOD LUCK.That worth a shout out!!
