To Clear Up Kens New Lies: IBEW Local 363 Explains How The Process Really Works



"You can't scare me I'm stickin with the union".


Just listened to Kens rousing speech. He's another droner, isn't he? Hey Ken! Wake up Bro - your lulling my people to sleep. I feel like I need to down two or three of those 5 hour energy drinks to recover. But as usual, there were so many LIES, mistruths, fuzzy logic that I am forced to CLEAN UP THE PUPPIES MESS ON THE RUG AGAIN.

SO LET'S TALK ABOUT THE ELECTION, NEGOTIATIONS, STRIKES, PROPOSALS, CONTRACT RATIFICATION:

Let's start right from the beginning -

When a large majority of workers want IBEW Local 363 - they sign cards saying so.

The IBEW Local 363 fills out a Petition For Election with the Labor Board.

The Labor Board gets the cards and keeps them. No one sees them again.

The Labor Board compares them to a list of employees to make sure more than 30% signed the cards.

The Labor Board schedules a pre-election hearing and election date within 42 days.

Both parties have the 42 days to contact and speak with the workers.

The election date comes.

IBEW LOCAL 363 WINS THE ELECTION IN A LANDSLIDE.

IBEW LOCAL 363 SCHEDULES MEETINGS WITH ALL FOUR CREWS A,B,C,D, DAY SHIFT, MACHINISTS AND ALL OTHER HOURLY PRODUCTION WORKERS.

OUR NEW IBEW LOCAL 363 MEMBERS DISCUSS WHAT CONCERNS THE PEOPLE HAVE.

Every time they say the words "The Union" - SUBSTITUTE THE WORDS - "The People".


The UNION is exactly that - THE PEOPLE. Substitute those words and you will see that although they seem to be only against "The Union" they are actually really against "The People".

MARK MY WORDS: You WILL see the two "tigers" named Dan and Ken change their STRIPES after the election.

YOU WILL SEE that 363 was the only one TELLING YOU THE TRUTH AND WE DON'T EVER CHANGE OUR STRIPES. What ya' see - is what ya' get - you can bet on it.

  1. When Tony comes to have another shot at union breaking it's just more of the same mud and manure being tossed around. Although, he probably takes it personally and is angered that we, the docile team members of MCC Newburgh, have the audacity to be unhappy with our companies management, dwindling benefits and wages so generously doled out by this new regime. And then take it once step further and insult him personally by having the balls to try to organize, join a union. Get over it. Like they say in the "Godfather" "this isn't personal, it's business." And I take my business serious. Especially when you are taking things from me and all of us. And giving them to some executive (read Brito) so far away and detatched that he could care less about the people who make it all possible, the worker. I find it ironic that Brito changed the name of the Human Resourses Dept to the People Dept. when in reality it seems he could care less about the people. They only care about their greed. Yes it can be argued that we are being greedy in our own way by wanting a union and maybe trying for a better, bigger piece of the pie. But my greed is quite modest, comparitively. My greed is not a $35,000,000.00 greed. I just want back what was taken. So, there is nothing that Tony, Dan, Ken or Dave (the man of the People, not HR) can do to persuade me from what I feel is the right thing to do. I want to change it from "Totalitarian Rewards" to "My Rewards, Negotiated by My Fellow Workers and Me."
    Tony, why don't you bring Pete Kramer with you too! I'd like to hear his insight on us rebellious ingrates trying to form a union. 90 off the floor, 1000 yard stare. How about Luis Edmond, generalisimo of the Northern Theater Of Operations, sorry, the Northern Zone of ABInbev.
    Or does the concern of us unionizing only go up the food chain so far. A local matter. What kind of contract to you have with ABInbev? Who negotiated for you? Will you be here for the vote?

    FYI........there's another crew in the plant consisting of approx 15 who are assigned to day shift and not a crew. I also believe the Machinists are also not assigned to a crew. These people also need reps other than crew reps. Please don't forget us

    team members are getting worried about their
    job.I can't understand why they would want to punish people for wanting a union.All we want is secuity is that so much to ask.A team member
    thinks the problem is that they will lose some of their power,what do you think of that?

    The advantages of being union vary depending on the contract agreed upon between the employer and the employees. Union workers usually recieve higher wages and better benefits. The workers job security is also more protected in a union. The advantages really come down to what is in the contract.
    The dues collected are to pay for things such as compensating lost wages for union representatives whose duty causes them to miss work and for renting union halls.

    The benefits of belonging to a good union are simple. You make more money.
    Places with higher union membership have higher wages.
    For example: the average electrician makes between $17-$18 an hour in North Carolina. (BLS) The union membership in North Carolina is around 3.5% (alfcio)
    Electricians in New York (the state) make between $36 and $45 an hour (also, bureau of labor statistics. bls.org.) The union membership in New york is around 25%.
    Electricians in Georgia make between $21 and $25 an hour. Their union membership in Georgia is around 3.7 %.
    Electricians in Wisconsin make between $28 and $35 an hour. Their union membership is around 15%.

    Pick just about any trade, and you will find that union membership rates correspond almost directly to pay scale rates.

    You should step back and ask the question - Who is putting that fear into me?

    There is no reason for anyone to be afraid of losing their job. No one has done anything wrong.

    The company wants to scare you away from yourselves. YES - it is about loss of a dictatorship for them. That is what it is about.

    With this company not being anywhere near what AB once was - I would definitely cast my vote to have that voice.

    Who will be there for your benefit - if not for yourselves? Only you can stop that intimidation.

    Why do we need to feel threatened?

    It is coming directly from the management side.

    Is that how you want to work? for ever?

    When will it stop? Will it get worse? How can I help myself? YOU can vote yourself some rights at work on August 27/28

    Do you like having no voice?

    Do you feel comfortable giving away your right to have a voice?

    Without a contract and that fear you may feel now is reality any day they like for the rest of your life.

    The best thing here is that EVERYONE gets to vote and no one will ever know how you voted.

    Vote YES you can't lose. You can only win.

    You will have plenty of company.

  11. Cant tell which side of the fence the team leaders are on. On my crew the frontend teamleader spends more time on the backend than the frontend. That is in between smoke breaks.

  12. Hey people just remember why we are here! The new company has dictated that we are second rate and don't deserve anything but having our wages and benefits scaled down. When we were Anheuser-Busch they always seemed to come back with a package that made us feel like we belonged. The upper mgmt. and plant mgmt. just don't understand this but they also feel the pressure on them because they talk about it all the time. They all want to know why we are at this juncture of life in the plant. This is not your parents AB anymore people, all you people that are fence sitters or no votes will realize if this does not fly you will lose so much in the coming years. Please wake up and know we need to stay strong and keep bonding together to make this happen. We need to take this election in a landslide and keep showing them that we mean business. I think they are getting the idea you can see it in their faces and the way the act. Lets keep the pressure on and make these last few weeks count more than ever. Vote yes and be proud to be union strong. COME ON PEOPLE STAY PSYCHED.

  14. Dont worry guys and gals. As the Ken said and Dan has repeated repeatedly, "the company will have to conservative with negotiations since it has to look forward 3 -4 years" So we all know what the brewery got on their last contract; $1000 sign on bonus and 15% paid out over 5 years and this was all done when the market was at the lowest levels in 2008. That sounds great to me, 3% a year. Do you think we will get that???? We will see what they have for us, what they think we are worth!!! If 3% is considererd conservative, WHAT the hell have we been receiving?? What do they call that, "Were going to rob you blind so we can get filthy rich and make billions in bonuses" Hell all we got was the brewerys sign on bonus this year with out a contract and without any raise, and no guarantee anything except we are over paid at 95% and need to get to 50%, expect LESS TO COME. Be real people get off the fence, see the writing on the wall? See the writing on this blog?

The workers on the floor will not get their fair share--but upper managers will make millions. Treat us fairly--that is all we ask for.     There are good team leaders and there are not so good team leaders.The good ones work along side their operators. The not so good ones act as if they too are managers. "Team leader", what does that mean? You are supposed to be the best expert in your area of responsibility. A teacher, god forbid using this term, but "a leader". The wannabe management team leaders have to open their eyes and see you have reached the pinnacle of your career. You will never be a manager, so give up the suck up. It doesn't matter how much knowledge and experience you bring to the table, if you don't have the college education, that GED ain't getting you over the top. You need a degree these days. The managers that have no degree were grandfathered in and are also going no further. I am actually surprised that some are still here, considering Brito needed their pension for his bonus, and now he's screwing with the management retiree's health bennies. We're next. The company education policy sucks these days and that is that. Going through a Chapstick and pair of kneepads a week sucking up ain't getting you nowhere. Fast. Wake up! You are still an hourly, one of us. Act like it. Although I have been able to work with some good team leaders, some need the wake up call that nothing is permanent. Maybe we should go back to the 24-36 month rotation. But no one really wants the job anymore.

  26. Hmmm, sounds like change is in the air at Newburgh, so let's review a little story we heard, a year or two ago....
    You remember, of course, in the first offsite of the Inbev era...there were Dan and Dave, doing little skits and talking about old farmer Joe, who was trying to decide if the changes he faced "were such a bad thing?" The message was obviously for US to embrace the changes and make the best of them.
    Fast forward to the present. Dan, Dave, Ken, Tony are all being given an 'opportunity' to embrace the change, and guess what? They're throwing away precious money and time trying to stop the change instead.
    C'mon, boys, let's see you live up to your words and stories...change will be good for you, too.

    be brothers & sisters soon that pre victory party was great last night.We wish Tony would not come we really don't want too hurt his feelings but it's a done deal we are happy with Sam he has showed us real caring.( and no we are
    not being snowed everyone needs to make money and he as earned it ask 132 people can tell you that.It's time for change and it is nowwwwww..

  32. CCREW - I am giving my word. That is what I do everyday of my life -I take care of all of the people I represent. You are one of those people now! I am doing this for the people of MCC Newburgh right now - already.

    You are making the right decision. You and your co-workers are getting a seat at the decision table. As for not liking unions, they are really just like everything else - they are all different just like firehouses and any large group of people.

    I can speak for the IBEW LOCAL 363 only. I am confident that you will feel differently about YOUR UNION - IBEW LOCAL 363.

    You will see that everything I have said is true - every word....and it will always be that way. It is all right here in writing.

    We all pay loads of money to live here and work here
    The cost of living here is outrageous
    The reason we stay here is because we all want to stay.
    We want to live and work here
    We love it here
    If we didn’t we would move
    Our job allows us to live here
    We all love our job; because it provides the life styles we live
    It brings us a good life in this area
    We want to continue to live and work here
    With a pay scale that will allow us to stay here
    The health and pension program needs to be better

    We can’t compare contracts from different areas of the country
    We live here and we need a contract to reflect that
