    Woo-Hoo!!!!

My Mama always said "You have to STAND for something, or you'll FALL for anything."

Even though some did not stand with us, we will still STAND BY THEM and get the BEST contract possible!

It's a new day in Newburgh. We are ALL ONE in the IBEW. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work. You people are the best!!!

  9. I am here and thank you guys for believing that you could do it. Let's face it - the company tried like hell to scare you guys and they did scare some people.

I knew that the majority would be strong. If this was a full vote of 164 we still would have won this election.

Now some of the people that voted no will begin to listen to us a little bit more than prior to the election and some will actually see that we are FOR THE WORKERS.

WE ARE FOR NOTHING ELSE BUT THE WORKERS.

Welcome to the IBEW and to Local 363!

  13. Well, we did what we set out to do. Now we do what Dan said several weeks ago. We roll up our sleeves and get to work and fix this puppy. Now we need the "no's" to become one with us. Don't fight us we are all in it together, everyone's input is important. We need to get the best deal we can get. It will take time and a lot of effort. Remember, management always told us we are a team. Then let's stick together and be one. Congratulations new 363er's. Sam, thanks for the text. Yeah baby, it is sweet!

  21. I hope you guys keep talking on here tonight. We need to bring everybody in WITH US now. We are for the people. We are not going to be unreasonable. We are going to do the right thing here. WE are legit.

We welcome all of the workers in the plant to come together with us. Air out what your issues or fears are about me, Local 363 , the IBEW or just unions in general - let's talk about it.
And we will try our best to either answer them or resolve them.

    That is an honest offer.

Now to tend to the other end - we won't allow ANYONE to disrupt our progress - worker or management - it is not going to happen.

I am experienced enough to know when that is happening and not the legitimate airing of someones concerns.

We are here to work together to help each other. Let's join together and do this right.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey 9:40 PM - I want to ask you - will you give us a chance to make it work and include you in it?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Rob you are a good guy I stuck up for you also.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Lets work together and make this a good result for us all. That means you need to man up Dan and deal with Sam. I hear he is nobody to mess with - google him

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hey Sam! Did I call the margin or what? A job well done. Well done by everyone! In all the years I've been here I never thought that 79 of us could think and act together toward a common goal. But we did and with our new union's support we can continue this solidarity right through a successful contract negotiation. Good job!

  33. Raise your drinks now... theres still work to doAugust 28, 2010 at 10:22 PM

This is only the beginning, wont feel like winning anything until we come up with a contract thats fair and reasonable. I plan on staying here a long time and I want to establish a good working relationship with the management staff and the people I work with. Good job Sam, you wanted a shot to make this plant something special, well thats what we gave you. Now its time to get to work and show us all why we put our trust in you. Judging by the efforts you put in this far, I don't think any of us will be let down.

    ReplyDelete
  34. You wont be but YOU will be busier now - so get ready. I kept you guys in the back and I stayed in the front because I didn't want anyone exposed. I didn't even have an observer because I didn't want anyone hanging out there as the ring leader for the union - I hung myself out there as that. I think that helped our campaign.

Now your role is going to change. Now you guys have to show ME that you can get it together. I want a solid group that backs each other up and does what is best for the group as a whole all the time. I want a group that participates and helps. Judging by the efforts of you guys too - so far - even behind the scenes - I don't think I will be let down either.

Do you know how powerful that is that we both feel like that?

That's the power of a union - let's make that happen here and do it so everybody wins - even the company.

Hey we did it everyone. We did have some wafflers that turned no in the end but thats ok because we are taking everyone with us to the top. I know some of you no votes had to think hard about this and you will see how good this will be for everyone. We now all need to come together for more hard work and hammer out a contract to take to management and get things in writing. I talked to Sam tonight and he was relieved that all went well and he is ready to roll up his sleeves to do anything it will take to get us the best possible contract. Sam you have a BIGGGG following at the plant and even the managers will learn that this is not all that bad when they deal with you. And to dan kimutis we knew this was the only way because you could not be trusted. And to Warren we hope you get yours and we all know what that means. You are just a nasty person and have always been one. My victory dance is writing this blog right now unlike your stupid victory dance was the epitomy of our management team. This Tony is why we are now a union plant and teamed up with a great local like 363. Sam my hats off to you and all your staff at the hall and I would like some union shirts to wear on the floor at work. Everyone place your stickers in good spots and show your pride.... We are there and we are strong and we are united, we are MCC the top dog can plant in the system. I love and respect all my union brothers and sisters.. WE ROCKED EM

Thanks, Newark, Windsor, Walkill, Jax and all the others for your support. It helped a lot to know you were there.
Sam, you the man. Lead on.

  40. Excellent job Team. To the Mgt. staff and Tony-We will still work just as hard as before the vote. We just wanted to be treated fair and it is going to happen now. Rolling like a freight train. Chuga--Chugga--chhoo--choo...

LOL Too bad for Warren and his wanna be's. Who's dancing now. One question for Tony: How did Sam unite the plant when your entire management staff failed to do so? Maybe Britto needs to ask that to you?

SAM FRATTO'S DEDICATION AND THE 363 = PRICELESS

SEE WHAT JUST A FEW PEOPLE CAN DO
FOR A LARGER GROUP OF PEOPLE
THAT ARE AFRAID TO TAKE CHARGE OF THERE OWN DESTINY
CAN DO IN JUST A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.

NOW IMAGINE WHAT WE ALL CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER AS ONE BIG FAMILY OF DEDICATED AMERICAN WORKERS.

NOW WE ARE A TEAM OF ONE.

A VOICE TOO BE RECONNED WITH!

NOW WE WORK TOGETHER TO PUT TOGETHER A

    THINK SMART AND ACT SMART!!

    BECAUSE WE ARE SMART!!!!

BEFORE WE WERE ALL MOSTLY FOLLOWERS

    ESPECIALLY YOU SAD BOOT LICKERS.

NOW WE WILL SHOW YOU AGAIN THAT WE ARE LEADERS AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN.. ( WARREN)

DAN AND DAVE SORRY WE SEEMED SO DISGRACEFUL TO YOU GUYS BECAUSE WE SEEMED SO HAPPY ON THE FIRST DAY OF VOTING.
YOUR SO DISCONNECTED FROM THE PEOPLE THAT YOU DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE THAT WIN OR LOSE
    THE PEOPLE WERE ALREADY HAPPY
JUST BECAUSE OF THE EFFORT SAM PUT FORTH FOR ALL OF US .
    EVEN YOU BOOT LICKERS.
TO BE ABLE TO HAVE A SAY.

    THATS RIGHT
WE THE PEOPLE HAVING A SAY!!!!!
HAVING A SAY TOWARDS OUR FUTURE .

    ReplyDelete
  49. I walked into the Training Room not knowing which way to vote.

I AM NOT the indecisive type, so this was a new feeling for me.

I stepped up and voted my conscience knowing that I do not like unions.

I also know that I do not like the direction our current management has gone for the last few years.

So Sam, you've got the ball, lets see what you can do with it.

Be forewarned ..... it's gonna be tough for you. You've initiated a union drive for perhaps the entire MCC Network. Please know that what you do at Newburgh MCC may be the precedent for all MCC Plants. Let's see if your up to the task. I wish you luck for our sake and for yours. Also please know INBEV management is going to fight you tooth and nail to stop you from doing well in Newburgh and at any other plants. Again, I wish you luck. You're gonna need it.

Management has already started to drool and mumble, I'm sure someone will be along to tell you about .....

"The wolves are at the door!"

Thanks for the hard work Sam, I'm hoping the best is yet to come.

    ReplyDelete
  50. well last nights cans were proudly UNION MADE sounds good don't it. wow fell sorry for the back-enders sounds like they put up with lots of shit last nt. hopefully that can be adressed Sam. thx GO 363

    ReplyDelete
  51. well digger that kind of behavior sure won't look good on ur resumme.

    ReplyDelete
  52. WOW, Union made cans, thanks for sharing that.

Makes me think of that old song .....

"Look for the union label ........."

    ReplyDelete
  53. The cocky humans in the climate controlled offices up front are only messengers soon we will see why management put us all through those boring meetings. i voted YES not because of management but because I do not trust INBEV and seems to me that is the case in Europe. Windsor its your turn. I heard there is a pungent Odor in your midst.

    ReplyDelete
  54. You guys are the best I am proud of all that put
so much time and passion in this. We will be better then ever because we are at peace now.
i know the mgt are worried and don't let them fool you. Dan you are a good person but you let Warren have control and for that shame on you.
He has always been on a power trip he did it to Russ and now you.Russ was a good man. Tony
just could not see through Warren. Cheers to all
see ya at the victory party we can all do the howdy doodie dance.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I wouldn't be to hard on Digger, he by no means was the cause of all this. Sure he's frustrated, and he should be, he wasn't making the decisions that caused this to happen. He will get over it like all the managers will, he just happened to be the one that didn't get any time to digest it like all the other managers that get all weekend to calm themselves and drink themselves to sleep after they found out we now get a say in EVERYTHING.

    ReplyDelete
  56. well sounds like mgmt. already is starting to pull there shit hey Sam can we adress the threats that are already goimg on it sounds like.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Warren is pissed I heard he is going to make your life hell,he is going by the contract that
we don't have yet (lol)they already have a plan to get rid of some position. Like maints & Q.A.
they stated that their jobs will be easier now.
Sam can you shed some light on that? I'm on A crew and I heard that last night by someone that is pissed that the union got in the door.

    ReplyDelete
  58. still hung over from last nightAugust 29, 2010 at 7:28 AM

first of all thanks for everybody coming together finally.. second threats should have no place at our plant.. third WHO IS WARREN , heard hes a good dancer who likes to smoke, never met him..

    ReplyDelete
  59. WOW 55000 !!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. THEY ARE PISSED WE ARE GOING TO PAY THE UNION
262,000 IN 3 YEARS WELL MY THOUGHT ON THAT
YOU GUYS WILL EARN YOUR MONEY WORKING WITH TONY
GOOD LUCK ON THAT HE STATED WE WILL MAKE LESS MONEY IF WE WENT UNION. WELCOME IBEW TO MCC!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I saw a big puff of smoke and a pile of butts, warren musthave been close by, bet he is really chain smoking now, as for digger, he will be good for us, he generally is an ok guy that tries to do the right thing but I will see if he is more calm tonight

    ReplyDelete
  62. I am happy with the out come and it sure did feel good making union cans. When do we celebrate?

    ReplyDelete
  63. this a new day the first official day of mcc 363 newburgh plant make lots of cans boy and make them proud.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Congratulations to all of you that wanted a chance to be represented by IBEW. Now the hard work begins. (After the party of course!)

Just so there is no confusion, my position on this is that I didn't feel that we needed union representation. We all have our own opinion based on our own situations.

Now that we are being represented by the IBEW in the collective bargaining process, I think it is important that we ALL participate in developing a contract that we can live with.

    Again, Congratulations!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I am really happy for you guys. Yes now the hard work starts but it is not only hard work for Sam. You guys are part of it - no sitting on the sidelines. The union is YOU, all of YOU.

IBEW Local 363 is going to LEAD AND PROTECT.

The people will be busy too.

We will be busy right away discussing and planning the peoples business. We are planning on WORKING WITH THE COMPANY. That is what we want - all of us.

AS for Dan and the rest of the managers giving the people a hard time - better not start out that way you Dan. I know how to handle that and I don't need to wait to read ANY instruction manual.

Now - there is only one side left in this that can ACCEPT OR RUIN that plan - Dans management side.

They will either accept our offer or reject it.

Their actions on that floor will tell me which way they want to go. They can pick which path we follow first - nice or not nice.

I'm good at traveling on both. I like the nice one.

If it's the "not nice" path I will go there too. Just so all you managers know - push me and YOU WILL FIND OUT I AIN"T NO CHOIR BOY.

So lets play nice and do this for everyones benefit.

PLEASE INCREASE THE TAPE RECORDERS IN THE PLANT.

I am watching and the TAPES WILL ROLL UNTIL WE HAVE A CONTRACT.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Eric well put & thanks for working all those swaps. Your still #1 lets let one of our things be unlimited swaps and I will give you alot.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Eric- Thank you for commenting on here and for you kind words. YOU are welcome to be part of all of this. You were up front and made it known that you really didn't think going union was the way to go. You should be respected for saying that up front.

We are just for the people - of which you are one - we want to protect what the people have and make sure they have a chance to improve over the years - I am sure you can agree that is a fair goal to have. We are not monsters now - Dan.

We want this to work and we - the IBEW - DO NOT WANT TO UPSET THE PLANT OR HOW IT IS RUN - we just want the people considered in some of those decisions ( and NOW THEY WILL BE ).

Eric - you are welcome to join us and really be part of this. You will surely have some valuable input and trigger some pretty good discussions.

TO ALL OF THE WORKERS WHO VOTED NO:

The IBEW welcomes ALL of you into our union too. Come and be part of it. PLEASE.

FAIR WARNING TO THOSE WHO REALLY AND UNFAIRLY JUST DO NOT WANT THE UNION NO MATTER WHAT WE DO AND JUST WANT TO UPSET THE UNION APPLE CART:

You are also invited to come too. However, at a certain point I will sniff out that you are there as a management PLANT - so you better bring your helmet with you because I am NOT PUTTING UP WITH THAT.

That also comes under the heading of protecting the people. Management plants do exist and they will also be welcome in our group - for a little while anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Sam, How long could it take to get a written contract? Everything is frozen until then?

    ReplyDelete
  69. WHO SAID THAT!!!!!!!!!!! COME ON GUYS ITS BLACK AND WHITE

    ReplyDelete
  70. A-Crew backend says we forgive you digger. Lets all move on be #1

    ReplyDelete
  71. Warren - In a legitimate negotiation where BOTH sides bargain in good faith and meet regularly - a contract like this one could be done fairly quick.

I will use my own idea of a fair time frame - It will be mid / late September when we begin. Unless there are some major roadblocks - which I do not see happening - I could fairly negotiate this contract - conservatively - by December.

Negotiating is more about attitude and working fairly - the opposite behavior is what pushes negotiations into the long term.

I think after the initial shock we should get going pretty good. Either way, if needed, the world will know who is holding things up and for what. But until then we will keep our issues between us and ABINBEV on a local level.

    ReplyDelete
  72. We all want same thing and we can do it if we work together. Over the past few years we became 2 instead of 1. Lets be 1 and #1 together.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Let's mend our plant - we want everybody to get along. If you are a worker who gets an hourly paycheck - we have EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD IN COMMON - welcome aboard with your IBEW Local 363 Brothers and Sisters at MCC!

Let's really make it #1 - in all ways.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Sam, this blog has been great and it is STILL bringing us together, just like you and the IBEW did!

You made us not only #1 but ONE.

    Thank you Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Eric That was a good thing you said you are a stand up guy I mis judged you, I'm sorry for that.

We will make this work. It felt so good getting
    up knowing there is hope.

Thank You Sam I heard you are a first class act
alot of people know you out there and they said you are no JOKE.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Warren asked that question for one reason
so he can start f**king people he has revenge
on his mind don't let him fool you Sam.

    ReplyDelete
  77. This was a really hard time for all of us at Newburgh, now it is over. Now is the time for all of us salaried and hourly employees to put it behind us and do what we do best. Be #1 as we all know we are.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Congrat team I voted no but I will be part of this even if it kills me...

    ReplyDelete
  79. It really doesn't matter now who said what or who voted yes or no. Now we are all as 1 and thats what matters. Lets all make newburgh the #1 can plant in the world as we know we are. We are the best at we do and can prove it.

    ReplyDelete
  80. On a-crew last night knowing there wasn't alot of union support on my crew and finding out the union was voted in I was very proud of the hard work that was done to make the cans. We had alot of problems and my fellow team members worked hard to run what we did. We are #1.

    ReplyDelete
  81. CCrew thanks for coming aboard. Feel free to call me to talk anytime. Just call my office (845) 783-3500 and leave a number for me to call you. You will see that this all makes sense.

  82. Our goal is three fold, involve all of the people in getting a written contract, being the most productive and #1 plant in all of MCC and looking out for each other.

All three are equally important AND equally attainable with cooperation and fairness.

    Is that so wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Thank-you Sam and all my team members that made this happen.

  84. Dear MCC
    Today is a great day.
It’s not only a beautiful day outside; it’s our 1st day together as IBEW #363
We are now one voice with one force
We are MCC Newburgh IBEW #363
We were always told to accept change and change is good for us
Now we all have to accept change. Management and Hourly employees
We all work at the Newburgh Facility and we all have a job to do
That job is to make cans and sell cans to our customers
We need to continue with our jobs and now do it a little bit better
We need to work together as a team
We need to work with pride and respect our decision to be one
We need to become one family, the family of Newburgh MCC
Now that the decision was made and all the hard work that both sides did is over
We need to continue the hard work to make this work
We need them (management) and they need us (employees)
We do not need management coming down on people for this decision
We need to learn from our mistakes and change for the better of us all
We all need to work as hard as we did in the last 5 or 6 weeks to become the best can plant in the US
We need to continue doing what we were doing 6 weeks ago and together we will be great
We all have wasted enough time and money, now let’s get ready to make cans together as a plant
If Management starts to come down on us, it just shows that we were right and it was going right back to the way they were before the drive.
Please let’s all work together for our common goal ( CANS )
    Thanks For your support

  85. I agree with Passion. How can they become nasty now after weeks of claiming to care about us?

Let's hope they have more class and are smarter than that. There is a fork in the road, let's take the high road. If they decide to take the low road we will be able to use gravity to our advantage.

I'm union and I AM PROUD.

SO I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR SAYING ? MAYBE ELABORATE SOME MORE ON THAT SUBJECT A LITTLE

BECAUSE I AM STILL WAITING FOR ABINBEV TO DELIVER SOMETHING TO THE TABLE. INSTEAD OF THE STEADY TAKE AWAYS

IF YOU COULDN'T SEE THAT ABINBEV WAS GOING TO CONTINUE THE TAKING AWAY OF WHAT LITTLE WE HAVE LEFT AND MOST CERTAINLY EARNED AFTER 20 PLUS YEARS OF MAKING THIS COMPANY WHAT IT ONCE WAS!!!!!!!!!!

    ARE YOU AFRAID OF CHANGE.

    DON'T WORRY

LIKE ALL OF THE MANAGERS HAVE TOLD US

  91. Hello Newburgh , Now you made the first step towards a contract . It's far from over people . One thing to remember , By the looks of the results , It's Obvious your Plant is split right down the middle . For the Union Supporters , Push aside the wise cracks and start showing the Non-supporters that the Union was the right choice . Put on your negotiation gear and communicate with each other as well as management . Choose your stewards wisely , and most of all Choose your Chief Steward VERY wisely . You will soon find out , Alot rides on that chief steward . He or She will spend countless hours organizing the stewards as well as the members . Do what they ask of you and most of all HAVE TRUST . Allow the Stewards to Get the training they need to provide for their members . The IBEW.363 is one group of people , On Sept 15th at the Hampton inn Middletown 7PM , Wallkill is Hosting a Monthly Union Meeting , Stop in and visit us . Come meet your fellow Brothers and Sisters , All of you are Welcomed . Just take one step at a time . Always remember , Theres a time to hold em and a time to fold em , choose your battle's wisely . You want a future not a demise for the Newburgh can Plant . Show them , all of you are there to work as a team , not separate units , That type of activity doesnt work in the Corp. world . 75 of you made the First Step , Its up to all 75 to recruit the other 66 and get them to come on-board . That line through your plant needs to go away . Dont think it will be easy , Its and on-going situation for everyone involved . Good luck and again , feel free to e-mail me at anthonyrsss@yahoo.com .
